Discover the exquisite refinement of Jean-Michel Giboulot Savigny-les-Beaune Les Pimentiers 2020, a stellar example of Burgundy's winemaking prowess. From the heart of Savigny-les-Beaune, this remarkable red wine is meticulously crafted by Jean-Michel Giboulot, a vintner renowned for his commitment to biodynamic principles and organic farming, ensuring every grape is as pure as nature intended. The 2020 vintage, sourced from the Les Pimentiers vineyard, benefits from a unique terroir that infuses the wine with a distinct minerality and a finely balanced structure. The fermentation process is carefully managed with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled conditions, followed by ageing in French oak to enhance its complexity and elegance. This red Burgundy, predominantly Pinot Noir, exhibits layers of juicy red and black fruits, underpinned by subtle spicy notes and a delicate touch of oak, culminating in a smooth, lingering finish. Whether savoured alone or paired with fine cuisine, this wine promises a memorable experience for any connoisseur. |

Burghound (93)A notably ripe and ever-so-mildly exotic but not really surmature nose consists primarily of spicy white orchard fruit along with hints of wood, white flowers and viognier. The rich, opulent and vibrant broad-shouldered flavors possess lovely complexity while delivering excellent length on the powerful and focused if somewhat linear finish. This will almost certainly add body with age, and it appears to be structured for mid to even longer-term cellaring. |

Vinous (94)The 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru comes from a one-third hectare of vines of which half is en friche (fallow), so only a couple of barrels are produced. It has a very delineated bouquet with enticing citrus peel, crushed pebbles, Clementine and blackcurrant leaf aromas. The palate is very well balanced with impressive concentration and slightly viscous on the entry. Quite rich for a Bâtard-Montrachet yet poised and mineral-driven on the finish. What a wonderful Bâtard-Montrachet - and I confess that I could not resist a cheeky morning sip! |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)Sample taken from barrel and tank. Clear mid yellow. The bouquet is very backward today but there is great class to the fruit on the palate, with a little honeydew melon suddenly surging forth at the finish. Multi-layered, at the very least adequate acidity with a very long aftertaste. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted Dec 2024. |
