An exemplar of expert viticulture and wine-making craftsmanship, the exquisite Pierre Labet Beaune Clos Monsnieres Rouge 2020 is a captivating embodiment of Burgundy's fine wines. Crafted in the famed Beaune region of Burgundy, France, this beautifully expressed Pinot Noir hails from one of Pierre Labet's cherished vineyards, one that is cherished for its highly advantageous southeastern exposure and limestone-clay soil. The grapes get meticulously handpicked and are guided through careful vinification, frequent barrel turning and partial malolactic fermentation, and ageing on fine lees. The result is a wine of striking finesse, opulent fruit character, complex layers of terroir-driven subtleties and a gracefully long finish. The Pierre Labet name is synonymous with minimal intervention philosophy, which translates to pure, deftly structured wines such as the Pierre Labet Beaune Clos Monsnieres Rouge 2020. |

Vinous (86-88)The 2018 Bourgogne Blanc was not the total blend when I tasted it at the domaine, since a couple of barrels had not finished their malolactic (there will be seven barrels in total). It has an attractive nose with notes of lemon curd, white flowers and just a hint of nutmeg, quite Meursault-like in style. The well-balanced palate is slightly buttery on the opening. Quite generous and slightly honeyed in the mouth, with touches of lime cordial and tangerine toward the finish. Enjoy this as soon as it is bottled. |
