Derived from age-old vineyards in the venerated region of Burgundy, the exquisite David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Mouches 2022, encapsulates the essence of faultless winemaking. Embracing ancestral knowledge, David Moreau reinvents yet conserves traditional processes, creating meticulously balanced wines marked by bold, expressive flavours. The grapes, grown on limestone and clay soils, benefit from ideal exposure, yielding an impeccable complexity of taste. Each clump is vinified separately, allowing for a wine that beautifully conveys the nuances of its terroir. Held in old oak for ten months, the wine achieves a harmonious blend of grace, zeal and reliability. Characterised by its luminous ruby tone, this Pinot Noir exudes succulent aromas of mature red fruit, punctuated by subtle whispers of spices. Within its velvety texture lies a vibrant acidity, with elegant tannins providing a finish of remarkable persistence. Indulge in the David Moreau Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Mouches 2022, a testament to the grandeur of Burgundian expertise. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (91)The 2014 de Fieuzal is a bold, racy wine. Sweet red cherry, iron, smoke and tobacco give the wine its distinctive flavor profile. The tannins have softened quite a bit over the last 18 months, which has allowed the fruit to show lovely succulence and creaminess. Drink this juicy Pessac-Leognan now and over the next handful of years. There is plenty to like in this expressive sleeper wine for the vintage. Tasted two times. |

James Suckling (93-94)Lots of blackberry and black currant aromas and flavors. Full body, round tannins, salty and earthy undertones. Very long and flavorful. 48% cabernet sauvignon, 45% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (94)The 2016 de Fieuzal has a detailed, focused bouquet, wonderfully focused and precise, featuring blackberry, cedar and black olive scents. There is a sense of classicism and class here. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannins, perfectly pitched acidity and a harmonious, tertiary finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is an outstanding Pessac-Léognan that, before its identity was revealed, I speculated could be Domaine de Chevalier. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. |

Wine Advocate (94)Perfumed and elegant, the 2019 de Fieuzal wafts from the glass with aromas of blackberries, licorice, coniferous forest floor and incense. Medium to full-bodied, lively and charming, with a pretty core of fruit, powdery tannin and a saline finish, it's a seamless, vibrant Pessac that—like its white counterpart—reflects the progress this 80-hectare Pessac-Léognan estate is making. It's a sleeper of the vintage. |

Decanter (94)Ruby red, plenty of red fruit aromatics also, savoury redcurrant and raspberry, not as concentrated as some, this has sinew and juice, a little austere, but I like the floral aromatics as it opens. A fairly subdued Fieuzal, structured with excellent juicy tension but not generous at this point. Tasted twice. 14 months ageing. |
