Albino Rocca
Albino Rocca is a boutique winery founded by Giacomo Rocca in the 1940s. Now in the loving hands of the fourth generation of the family, Paola, Monica and Daniela Rocca continue their father’s legacy of producing engaging wine that shows off the feminine side of Nebbiolo. With a signature style of pure and ripe fruit with very little new oak, Galloni says “Albino Rocca is one of the most intriguing estates in Barbaresco right now”.

It's a slow-moving Barbaresco that continues to show more depth and interesting angles the longer it stays in the glass. The Albino Rocca 2021 Barbaresco Ovello Vigna Loreto (with fruit from 50-year-old vines) is slightly timid compared to the other wines in this portfolio. I'd suggest giving it more time in bottle in order to flesh out those aromas of dark fruit and licorice. Only 2,900 bottles were made. |
