Vinous (95)(13.7% alcohol, after multiple tiny additions of sugar totaling just 0.2% to prolong the fermentation, according to Anne Gros; aged in 70% new oak): Medium red. Fresh, pure but reticent aromas of raspberry, spices and earth. Very ripe but initially reserved, hinting at wild raspberry, soil and dark chocolate. Aeration brought building inner-mouth perfume, revealing the wine's superb sappy depth and spicy lift. Not demonstrative today but one can sense the serious underlying structure of this wine, not to mention its rare combination of density and finesse of texture. Finishes with sexy sweetness, tangy tannins and terrific length. |

Wine Advocate (94)The 2016 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Le Grand Maupertui is showing very well from bottle, opening in the glass with intense aromas of wild blueberry, cassis, spicy soil tones, licorice and violet. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with excellent depth and dimension at the core, displaying more concentration and fine-grained structure than the 2017 rendition and concluding with a pure, mineral finish. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2018 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has a little more fruité on the nose compared to the Echézeaux, offering cranberry, raspberry and light aromas of damp woodland. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, fine acidity and a lightly spiced, quite linear finish that feels persistent and satisfying. Superb. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has a fragrant bouquet, maybe a little more compact than the Echézeaux. Vinous (92-94)The 2020 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has an intense, quite penetrating bouquet with copious black cherry and cassis scents interwoven with rose petal and violet aromas. The palate is quite dense and multi-layered with dark berry fruit laced with white pepper and bay leaf that builds towards quite a backward finish that will requite 8-10 years to reach its drinking window. A lot of wine in this Clos Vougeot. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2021 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru has an earthier bouquet with touches of wild mint percolating through the transparent red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins, velvety smooth, moderate depth though not a complex finish. Yet it is surfeit with charm and like the Echézeaux, will not need an enormous amount of cellaring. |

Vinous (93)Good bright medium red. Inviting aromas of raspberry, crushed stone and smoky minerality. Round, sweet, silky and fine-grained; showing less piercing fruit today than the village Vosne but significantly more texture and volume. Finishes broad and lightly saline, with substantial ripe, horizontal tannins buffered by the wine's mid-palate richness. It wouldn't be criminal to drink this wine now, said Anne Gros. |

Tim Atkin MW (95)Grown in a single parcel that is 32 years old, this is a winsome Ech zeaux. It's an outpouring of pristine pure red fruits laced with minerality and sprinkled with sweet spices. Outgoing and welcoming, it reminded me of Anne's huge smile. (So often one can see the winemaker in her wine!) The gossamer structure definitely feels rather Vosne-like, even though this second smallest climat sits just about in the heart of Ech zeaux. 2023-36 |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Echézeaux Les Loachausses Grand Cru is understated and well-defined on the nose: brambly red fruit and crushed stone, touches of pressed flower. Again, this has a transparence that I admire. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, elegant and poised, gently building towards a cohesive, harmonious finish. Nicely poised and whilst not built for long-term ageing, it will dish out mid-term pleasure. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-94)Good medium red. More serious, tangy aromas of raspberry, minerals and smoke. Wonderful sweetness on the palate; really stuffed with fruit and yet less forthcoming today-perhaps more dominated by its structure- than the Clos Vougeot. Finishes long and firm, with a suggestion of medicinal cherry. |

Vinous (94+)Medium red, a bit less saturated than the Clos Vougeot. Deeper aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, flinty smoky minerality and pepper, along with a whiff of gamey reduction. Bigger, broader and sweeter than the Clos Vougeot, and amazingly supple and plump for a grand cru from this vintage, without any loss of shape. The back end is like a booster rocket of fruits and flowers, which cover the wine's acidity and noble tannins today. I'd love to taste this next to the Clos Vougeot in ten years' time. |

Vinous (94+)Full medium red. Very subdued but pure aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, licorice and wild herbs. Wonderfully rich and dense yet somehow weightless; distinctly wilder than the Clos Vougeot, showing an almost liqueur-like ripeness but also strong acidity to its hard candy flavors. I don't find the Oriental spice character this wine typically demonstrates in the early going, but there's no denying this wine's density and powerful fruit. It will need substantial cellaring to achieve its adult harmony. |
