Blankiet Estate
About Blankiet Estate
An estate declared by Vinous’s Antonio Galloni to have been ‘one of the highlights’ of his month-long tasting trip to Napa for creating wines that are ‘impeccable in their proportion’, Blankiet Estate is a small producer competing with the best in the region.
Nestled above Yountville on the western foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains, the estate’s Paradise Hills Vineyard is planted on steep hillsides just above the famed Dominus Estate Napanook parcel, as shown in the photo below, that was originally planted in 1838 by Yountville’s founder, George C. Yount. It is made up of three volcanic knolls separated by alluvial swells deposited by the creeks draining the mountain range. Upon consultation with legendary viticulturist David Abreu and winemaker Helen Turley, it was split into four sub-sections with unique subsoil and microclimate for each of the four varietals used by Blankiet; Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.

Vinous (94)(60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot): Deep red with a dark core. Slightly high-toned aromas of raspberry liqueur, wild herbs and white fruits. Massive, thick and sweet, with the fruit syrup quality continuing through the palate. Most noteworthy today for its sheer volume and voluptuous texture. But this hugely tannic, mouth-expanding wine also shows surprising balance and an absence of rough edges. |
