About By Farr
Gary Farr is a true pioneer of Pinot Noir. He is one of Australia’s finest and most knowledgeable winemakers with Pinot. His pedigree was built up over decades, first in Australia at Bannockburn, then working 10 vintages at the legendary Domaine Dujac in Burgundy.
In 1994, he channelled all that expertise into his own estate in Geelong, Australia around 100km southwest of Melbourne. He purchased a historic estate, whose vineyards go back to the 1800s. With the help of his son Nick, they are producing world-class single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The Real Review (97)Bright, medium-yellow hue; restrained nutty, creamy, faintly buttery and lightly toasted bread aromas, a touch of 'milk bottle' confectionery. The palate is taut and tensioned, with vibrant acidity and subtle lemon/grapefruit and pear aromas, the lemony fruit and acidity driving it to a long finish. Bright and nervy: a more delicate and reserved style of chardonnay for this region and producer, and promises to have a long and bright career. |

The Real Review (99)Deepish crimson colour with a good tint of purple on the meniscus. The bouquet is restrained and shy, brooding and deep, all confirmed by the palate, which is also full-bodied and very deep, concentrated and densely packed, with more earth-bound than fragrant aromatics, some smoky-barrel nuances neatly combining with five-spice and dried thyme touches. A robust, powerful pinot with terrific length and potential. |
