Château du Domaine de L'Église
About Château du Domaine de L'Église
Domaine de L'Église is one of several Pomerol producers usingL'Église as part of the name. The 7 hectare Pomerol vineyard of Domaine de l’Eglise is planted to 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard is located not far from several famous neighbours including Château L'Évangile, Château Clinet andChâteau L'Église Clinet. While they have parcels in various locations on the plateau, their best parcels are planted close to the church, not far from their old, stone chateau. On average, the vines are an impressive 40 years of age at Domaine de l’Eglise Pomerol.

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (87-90)Ruby-red. Pretty aromas of red cherry, floral perfume and spicy oak. Not fleshy but lively and fine, with fresh cherry, redcurrant and mineral flavors lingering nicely on the aftertaste. Tannins are supple and sweet. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (87)Bright, medium red-ruby. Cherry, mocha, mint and nutty oak on the nose, with hints of leather, pepper and herbs. A pliant midweight, with modest complexity but good life to its dark berry, mint and herb flavors. Just a bit dry and medicinal on the end. I'd drink this lively wine over the next few years. |

Vinous - Ian D'Agata (87-90)Good deep red with ruby highlights. Delicate aromas of blackcurrant, dark plum and spices on the floral, perfumed nose. Suave and smooth, with a refined, pure quality to the redcurrant, cedar and tobacco flavors. Hardly a blockbuster, this very nicely balanced wine finishes smooth, with fine-grained, pliant tannins. This rather delicate wine should offer plenty of early pleasure. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-93)Black cherry, plum, chocolate, spice, licorice and menthol give the 2018 Domaine de L'Eglise a decidedly dark, somber character. Creamy and ample, the 2018 offers quite a bit of textural depth and intensity in a sumptuous style that should drink well with minimal cellaring. This is a decidedly big Pomerol. The blend is 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, with 50% new oak. |
