Champagne Delamotte

About Champagne Delamotte

Founded in 1760, Champagne Delamotte ranks as one of the five oldest champagne houses neighbouring the legendary Champagne Salon. Based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, it was acquired together with Salon by the Laurent-Perrier group in 1986 and both champagne houses eventually brought under the same management team in 1988. At the moment, Michel Fauconnet is the chef de cave for both Champagne Salon and Champagne Delamotte.

Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut 2012 (6x75cl)

Wine Advocate (94+)

A worthy successor to the super 2008, Delamotte's 2012 Blanc de Blancs is performing very well—despite the fact that it was disgorged as recently as June 2019. Opening in the glass with aromas of citrus oil, dried white flowers, smoke and wheat toast, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a bright girdle of acidity, well-integrated dosage and a fine mousse, the muscularity of the vintage rendered with uncommon finesse. While this is quite expressive for such a recently disgorged vintage Delamotte, the rewards of even only a few years' patience will be considerable.

Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut 2014 (3x150cl)
Inc. VAT: £440.58
2014

Delamotte Blanc de Blancs Brut 2014 (3x150cl) Effortlessly gastronomic yet charmingly approachable as an aperitif whilst young, the 2014 Blancs de Blanc is a shimmering gold colour with flecks of mesmeric emerald. An impeccably fine bead gives rise to a powerful bouquet of precise fruit with such depth it seems to be drawn directly from the ancient rock of Champagne. Candied citrus peel greets the palate immediately, before touches of brioche and oyster shell are carried through to and endless finish by superb acidity and so much minerality. The most perfect accompaniment to rich seafood such as sea urchin or crab, it currently has the immediate charm of youth to also stand as a glorious aperitif. Needless to say, this wine’s quality will enable it to age for at least 15 years for those collectors with a penchant for deep, savoury tertiary characteristics.
