DeMorgenzon

Now elevated to First Growth status in Tim Atkin MW's important Cape Classification, DeMorgenzon has become an estate renowned for its supreme quality whites.

Purchased in 2003 by Wendy and Hylton Appelbaum, the estate has been transformed into a garden vineyard, where abundant wildflowers grow between the vines.

With their vineyards sitting up to 400 metres above sea level and enjoy panoramic vistas including Cape Town, Table Mountain, Cape Point, Cape Hangklip, the Hottentots Holland mountains, Helderberg and Simonsberg with the ocean as a backdrop – there is no doubt that DeMorgenzon must be among the most beautiful wine estates in the world.

DeMorgenzon Reserve Chenin Blanc 2019 (6x75cl)

Tim Atkin (95)

It's always a toss-up between the Reserve Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc at DeMorgenzon, as both are excellent, but in 2019 I slightly prefer the latter. Sourced from the four best blocks on the farm, this is rich and exotic, with toasty 10% new French wood, taut underlying acidity and the concentration to develop in bottle. 2021-26
