Wine Spectator (92)Rich and generous, with vanilla and milk chocolate accenting black cherry, plum and mineral flavors. A powerful red, this is balanced and long, with a sweet, spicy aftertaste. Best from 2011 through 2024. 35 cases imported. -BS |

Vinous (94+)Good medium red. Subtle, pure, high-pitched aromas of black cherry, blackberry, violet and licorice. Chewy, intense and penetrating, with plenty of stem-driven energy behind the saline, soil-driven flavors of minerals, dark berries and graphite. There's no easy sweetness here, but this builds impressively in the glass and leaves the taste buds quivering on the very long, lightly peppery back end. These firm tannins will need a decade of patience. Like the Grands-Echezeaux, this wine was aged in 80% to 90% new oak. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (93-95)(25% vendange entier): Good bright red with ruby tones. Precise aromas of black cherry, licorice and herbs. Spicy and penetrating on the palate; a bit strict but offers a great combination of sweetness and minerality. At once classy and powerful, finishing with a lingering element of saline minerality and firm, noble tannins that saturate the entire mouth. |

Vinous (94)The 2017 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is well defined and precise, with cranberry, raspberry and vibrant red cherry scents that soar from the glass. The oak here is very well assimilated. The well-balanced palate offers fine but firm tannins that frame the black cherry and raspberry fruit. Lovely tension and mineralité on the finish, which delivers just the right amount of spice and length. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. |

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91-93)Ruby-red. Perfumed, inviting aromas of bitter chocolate, blood orange and Moroccan spices. Round, concentrated and ripe, with sappy density to the flavors of dark fruits and spices. This is much easier to taste today than the Brulees. Finishes with sweet, ripe, even tannins and excellent length. Should be superb. |

Vinous (92+)Bright dark red. Darker on the nose than the preceding samples: black raspberry, black cherry, minerals and bitter chocolate. Very tight and in need of patience, offering a distinctly crunchy quality to the youthfully medicinal black cherry, licorice and mineral flavors. No easy sweetness here today. Shows more energy and cut than its 2014 sibling but this wine is also more backward and will need longer to fill out. A classic example of a cool terroir in a cool vintage. |

Vinous (93+)Good full, deep red. Complex aromas of black raspberry, cherry, coffee and game. Silky, spicy and fresh, with lovely lift and definition to the rather lush fruit. A lightly peppery quality perks up the wine without introducing greenness. Best on the very long, building finish, which features suave tannins and lingering sweetness. Seems every bit as long as the 2009 version. This was vinified with one-third whole clusters, and that percentage seems struck me as just right. |

Wine Advocate (94)Tasted blind, the 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées also put in a superb performance, unfurling in the glass with an attractive bouquet of ripe red berries, incense and candied peel, framed by a touch of light reduction that segues into sapid bass notes of smoked duck. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, lavish and multidimensional, with supple tannins, a dramatic core of fruit and succulent underlying acids. This is a very promising Brûlées from Domaine d'Eugénie. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru is blended with 70% whole bunch and matured in two-thirds new oak. Again, the stems here are neatly enmeshed, allspice and black pepper, leaning slight more towards black fruit than red. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins on the entry, loosening a little midway, quite "cool" and spicy towards the finish. Classy. |
