Ferrari

The late Antonio Ferrari came from Piemonte, but his heart lay in Italy's South Eastern region of Puglia. In the early-to-mid 20th century he put his expert craftsmanship to practice with his labour of love, Primitivo di Manduria grapes from 100-year-old Pugliese vines. Antonio's uniquely captivating Solaria Jonica wines made the long journey north to his cellars in Galliate, in the Novara hills of Piedmont, to complete their fermentation, before spending 10 years in large old casks and a further almost half century in large cement tanks. In 2004, a year after his passing, his children bottled just four vintages of their Father's legacy; 1949, 1954, 1959, and 1978.
