Vinous - Antonio Galloni (90-92)The 2014 La Fleur de Boüard is still in barrel, but it is shaping up to be a terrific wine. Dark, sumptuous and inviting, with soft contours, the 2014 is an excellent choice for drinking over the near and medium term. Succulent red cherry, plum, rose petal, mint and dried flowers are all pushed forward in this gloriously ripe, voluptuous Lalande-de-Pomerol. Tasted two times. |

Vinous - Antonio Galloni (93)The 2019 La Fleur de Boüard is gorgeous. Sweet floral and spice top notes meld into a core of red/purplish fruit, blood orange, menthol, spice and cedar. Creamy and open-knit, with lovely perfume and fine balance, the 2019 Le Plus is impressive, not to mention a real charmer. In a second tasting it was even more exotic and sexy. |

Wine Advocate (96)Take that quality and add additional layers of concentration, power, extract and wood, and you have the 2009 La Plus de La Fleur de Bouard. Only about 500 cases of this 100% Merlot are made. With notes of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with graphite and spring flowers, this wine is absolutely massive and not for everybody, but it is an example of what a conscientious and driven producer pushing the envelope can do in a satellite appellation such as Lalande de Pomerol. Moreover, I suspect it will last for at least two decades. |
