Well regarded as one of the finest winemakers in Austria, if not Europe, F.X. Pichler was celebrated by Robert M. Parker Jr. as "the Château Latour, Domaine de la Romanée Conti, Zind-Humbrecht, of the Wachau". Austria possesses some of Europe’s most legendary terroir for Riesling and Grüner Veltliner, particularly in the Wachau region where F.X. Pichler is located, and in previous centuries these wines were amongst the most sought-after by royals and aristocrats the world over. After a tough second-half of the 20th century, Austria is now firmly back at the fine wine world’s top table, and F.X. Pichler was hugely responsible for leading the way in this resurgence.
