Greywacke began in Marlborough in 2009 by Kevin Judd, who as head winemaker at Cloudy Bay for 25 years helped them become so sought after. The name comes from the stone which makes up much of New Zealand’s bedrock. Their fruit is sourced from prime sites in the Wairu Plains and Southern Valley. It is mostly Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir but they also do limited edition releases of other varieties.
