Jean-Claude Boisset
About Domaine Jean-Claude Boisset
Jean-Claude Boisset is a family-owned producer, founded in 1961 when Jean-Claude secured his first parcel of land in Gevrey-Chambertin. Winemaker Grégory Patriat has overseen nearly 20 vintages with the estate, having joined in 2002 after working as vineyard manager at legendary producer, Domaine Leroy. Laure Guilloteau has worked alongside him since 2015.
Grégory’s select group of growers, with whom he works closely throughout the year, give him access to the highest quality fruit from small parcels and lieux-dits across Burgundy. Below, we are pleased to offer a broad range of Boisset’s top wines from some of the most iconic and sought-after vineyards in the entire region.

Jancis Robinson (17.5)Bottled. Especially pale rim. Very floral and hedonistic. Sweet start and surely just what burgundy lovers currently seek. Really rather gorgeous fruit and precision with just a little dry finish so probably worth waiting a while. Very long. |

Jancis Robinson (17.5)Cask sample. Oak shows a little more here in the aroma than on most of the Boisset whites. Mealy and spiced and a touch of vanilla. Really creamy and rounded, so generous and caressing but balanced by great freshness. Embryonically delicious with a long, piercing finish. |

Jancis Robinson (18)Cask sample. Meaty, orange-peel nose with lots of edge and energy. Like essence of Morey. Really exciting but with a flourish rather than concentration. Great balance and refinement as well as depth. So well done! Oddly appealing already but certainly not simple. |

Jancis Robinson (19)Mid smudgy crimson. Stunningly vibrant aroma of red cherry and peony (winemaker Grégory Patriat suggests violets). I'd be happy to wear this as perfume. Smells intensely sweet but also tart and tangy. All that on the palate, too. Firm, dry texture, layered super-fine tannins are almost chalky. Fabulous wine. If only I could afford to drink it! I am suggesting an early start date for the drinking window because I could actually drink this now though it is sure to have a very long life. |

Jancis Robinson (18)Mid cherry red. Less open than the Vosne-Romanée just tasted. Peppery and definitely spiced with a touch of oak and stems all tangled up in the aroma. A dark beauty as it opens in the glass. So elegant, embryonic and yet refined already. Fresh, appears subtle, and it is, but it's also powerful and long. |

Jancis Robinson (17.5)Cask sample. Subtle first impression. Ripe citrus and spice but impressionistic. As it opens, there's a rich creaminess. Rounded and full in the mouth. An unusual combination of gentle intensity. |

Jancis Robinson (16.5)Tank sample. Hint of liquorice and impressive substance on the palate. Not as savoury as the southern Côte d'Or but very pleasing. |

Jancis Robinson (16.5)Cask sample. So different from the creamy 'sweetness' of the Marsannay. More spicy, savoury, and a touch smoky. And no lack of pure citrus. Sour-fresh intensity on the palate balanced by tension from the acidity and still a rounded impression on the finish. Very long and slightly sour on the finish. Needs a little more time in bottle. |

Jancis Robinson (16.5+)Cask sample. Bright, light crimson. Quite a meaty nose but the fruit is bright and energetic. Pure, fresh fruit – lighter than the average Gevrey from another vintage but a very approachable, lively wine. Lots of ripe-tomato perfume. |
