Olivier Leflaive
Found in the heart of the Burgundy wine growing region, family and friends gather for the two week manual harvest at the Leflaive winery. Renowned for their Puligny-Montrachet, the Domaine had origins date back to 1905 when Olivier Leflaive was able to buy his first 25 hectares.

Vinous (89)The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 1er Cru has a rich, almost decadent bouquet of billowing clementine, mango and vanilla aromas that are attractive but missing some definition. The palate is balanced, offering lime and orange zest and a pretty, slightly saline finish that lingers in the mouth; it lacks precision but there is satisfying length. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. |

Vinous (91)The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Vergers Clos Saint-Marc 1er Cru has a significant struck-match aroma on the nose that obscures delineation and terroir expression, and it doesn’t get much better with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft entry and lower acidity than its peers. Simple compared to others, and a little overworked toward the finish, but it does improve significantly in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. |

Vinous (94)The 2015 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a well-defined and focused bouquet. The oak initially feels loud, displaying toasty notes that admittedly marry well with the reduction, and then, magically, it coalesces and becomes more and more vivid and animated with aeration. The palate is very well balanced, and then flavors of mango, clementine and a touch of ginger reflect the precocity of the growing season. It feels a little heavy toward the finish, possibly with some botrytized fruit, but it develops precision with aeration. Very promising. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. Vinous (93)The 2018 Montrachet Grand Cru has a heavy reduction on the nose that masks the terroir, but that will dissipate with time. The palate is (again) very reduced at the moment, good weight and concentration, quite muscular yet missing a bit of grace on the finish. Difficult to figure this out. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. |
