Ramey
About Ramey
A family-owned estate, Ramey is headed by the legendary David Ramey, a winemaker of serious pedigree. After sixteen years mastering his craft in Sonoma County at Matanzas Creek and Chalk Hill wineries, both of which he is largely responsible for establishing as the Californian forces we know today, David crossed the Mayacamas to spend six years in the Napa Valley. Quite the initial foray into the New World’s single most famous vinous appellation, Ramey was both winemakers for, and project manager of the new winery, at Dominus Estate owned by Christian Moueix of Pétrus.
“David Ramey is one of California’s best and most respected winemakers” - Stephen Brook (Decanter)
“In my mind, Ramey is one of the top wineries in the United States” - Antonio Galloni (Vinous)
Viniculture
Decidedly Burgundian in their focus on individual terroir (and of course as single-vineyard expressions), his wines are true to time and place in such a way as only the very greatest winemakers can convey – luckily David Ramey is one of the best in the business. If buyers are curious as to what this noble white grape can really do in New World terroir, worked by New World hands and vinified by the best the New World has to offer, look no further...

Wine Advocate (96)The 2019 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard has singular scents of warm peaches and burnt lemon with touches of meringue, beeswax, saline and flint. The medium-bodied palate is energetic and tense at this youthful stage, its satiny texture opposed by tangy freshness, and it finishes long and flinty.
