Domaine Rene Rostaing
About Domaine Rene Rostaing
Beginning with two half acre plots in Cote Blonde and Cote Brune, Rostaing hit a breakthrough in 1990 with an inheritance of old vines. His aim is to produce wines unique to the region and the recent vintages not only age well but sacrifice nothing when opened early.

Vinous (92)Vivid purple. Fresh black and blue fruits and potpourri on the expressive, expansive nose. Highly floral and spicy, with intense dark berry and bitter cherry flavors becoming sweeter with aeration. This precise wine finishes with excellent thrust, sneaky tannins and lingering floral and Asian spice notes. Rostaing pointed out that this is a perfect example of a 2012 that shows wonderfully now but that's set to shut down in about six months, after which it should be left alone for at least three to five years. |

Wine Advocate (94)Bottled in July, the 2015 Cote Rotie Ampodium is fairly full-bodied and quite rich. The black olive and raspberry notes verge on being jammy but are balanced by peppery spice and firm, savory tannins. Give it 5 years in the cellar to settle down, and drink it over the next decade and a half or more. For an entry-level wine, it's remarkable. |

Wine Advocate (99)Truly blockbuster stuff, and a wine that will compete with the ’99 when it’s at full maturity, the 2010 Côte Rôtie Côte Blonde gave up a spectacular array of sweet red and black raspberry, cassis, violets and underbrush. A full-bodied, impeccably balanced, yet concentrated and massive Côte Rôtie, it has world-class tannin quality, a stacked mid-palate and blockbuster length. It will need another decade to show some maturity, and hold nicely through 2040. |
