    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles 2011 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (90-93)

Good full, bright red. Very ripe, deep nose offers pomegranate, cranberry and pungent crushed-stone minerality. Very rich and silky; a step up in density from the Pruliers. Thick and chocolatey but with very good lift and verve. Finishes with complex soil tones and serious tannins that will require five or six years of cellaring.

    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles 2012 (1x75cl)

    Vinous (93-95)

The 2012 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles is one of the most explosive wines in this range. Dark red cherries, smoke, licorice, tobacco, incense and orange peel jump from the glass in an intense, full-bodied wine loaded with personality. The balance of fruit and structure here is simply magnificent. There is little question the Cailles is one of the highlights in this range.

    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 2016 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (93+)

Since fully 1.5 hectares of vines produced a mere four barrels of wine, it's no surprise that the 2016 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots is preternaturally concentrated, and tasted blind I mistook it for the domaine's Cailles. Unfurling in the glass with notes of rose petals, violets, orange rind and ripe cherries, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and strikingly intense, structured around rich, velvety tannins that caress the palate, and concluding with a long, beautifully lively finish. Readers who can find a few bottles shouldn't hesitate.

    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots 2018 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (90-92+)

Offering up aromas of wild blueberries, cassis, dark chocolate and spices, the 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and supple, with succulent acids and powdery tannins. This is one of the more charming, immediate premiers crus in the Chevillon cellar.

    2017

    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers 2017 (12x75cl)

    Decanter (95)

One of an impressive array of premiers crus from the south side of Nuits, the Chevillons' parcel in Pruliers extends to 0.6ha and is 55 years old. It's a wine of considerable freshness, detail and precision, showing floral aromas, some sweet spices, succulent red berry fruit and a focussed, chalky finish.

    2018

    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers 2018 (12x75cl)

    Vinous (92-94)

The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has a very perfumed and floral bouquet with wilted rose petal and touches of lavender infusing the mainly red berry fruit. I appreciate the detail and delineation of this N.S.G. The palate is very fine and matched with a superb line of acidity, the lively red fruit laced with subtle hickory and white pepper notes, fanning out nicely toward the finish while maintaining superb freshness. This is perhaps the most immediately enjoyable of Chevillon’s 2018s.

    2017

    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges 2017 (12x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (94-96)

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint-Georges is a stunning wine in the making, soaring from the glass with a beautiful bouquet of cassis, violets, wild plums, wood smoke and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with serious reserves of beautifully refined structuring tannin and concentrated fruit, concluding with a long and sapid finish. This is a stunning wine from the Chevillon brothers which could hold its own against most of the Côte de Nuits' grands crus this year.

    Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)

Black purple, the bouquet is very backward, but more importantly not at all cooked. Now the concentrated deep raspberry fruit starts to emerge, red rather than on the blacker side. Very succulent, a grand lush wine that is reserved at the moment, but this should develop into a stunner and may yet move into five star territory. Tasted: December 2021

    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains 2017 (6x150cl)

    2017

    Robert Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains 2017 (6x150cl)

    Decanter (95)

Les Vaucrains is marked by its proximity to the combe at the southern end of Nuits-St-Georges, which gives the wine an added lift of freshness. Like Les St-Georges which abuts it, this is quite a firm, shuttered wine with an overlay of 30% new wood, good concentration, fine tannins and enough backbone and acidity to age.

The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vaucrains is powerful and muscular, opening in the glass with aromas of cassis, ripe wild blueberries, dark chocolate, rose petals, rich soil tones and smoked meats. Full-bodied, rich and muscular, it's deep and concentrated, with a serious chassis of ripe, powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, resonant finish. As usual, this is the most powerful wine in the Chevillon cellar.
