    Roc de Cambes 2003 (12x75cl)
    Inc. VAT: £1,373.74
    2003

    Roc de Cambes 2003 (12x75cl)

    Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (87-89)

Full red. Cherry, strawberry and black licorice on the nose; less extreme than the Tertre-Roteboeuf. Superripe, creamy and deep, with slightly rustic flavors of roasted fruits and game. Impressively dense and lush in the middle palate, and long and sweet on the aftertaste. Will evolve quickly. This Cotes de Bourg wine is still a very good Bordeaux value, although not quite like in the old days, when I paid 108 for a case of the '89 en primeur

    2016

    Roc de Cambes 2016 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The 2016 Roc de Cambes is powerful, tightly wound and closed in on itself. That should not be an issue, but readers should be prepared to be patient. Iron, smoke, tobacco, cedar, menthol and licorice all add aromatic nuance to a core of dark fruit. I also tasted a bottle that had been opened two days prior. There I found a wine of amplitude and breadth. This is another superb 2016 from the Mitjavile family.

    2017

    Roc de Cambes 2017 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (94)

The 2017 Roc de Cambes is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. Rich, dense and explosive, with tremendous power the 2017 is positively stellar from the very first taste. Macerated dark cherries, sage, spice, star anise, orange zest, mint and new leather give the 2017 an exotic, racy feel that is hard to fully describe. In the glass, the 2017 possesses off the charts aromatic intensity and tons of pure fruit richness, while the 100% new oak is barely perceptible. Readers lucky enough to find it will enjoy a wine of tremendous character and personality. This is an absolutely stunning wine from Francois and Nina Mitjavile.

    2019

    Roc de Cambes 2019 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (93)

The 2019 Roc de Cambes has retained an attractive Japanese nori scent that combines beautifully with the layered black fruit. The palate is very well balanced, poised and spicy, and fresh as a daisy, with fine concentration and a gourmand-like finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a fantastic Roc de Cambes.
