Rossignol-Trapet
Created through the marriage of Jacques Rossignol and Mado Trapet, since 1990 the estate has been managed by sons Nicolas and David who quickly moved it to biodynamic farming. Their technique of only racking when necessary produces wines that clearly express their excellent Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards.

Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (89-91)Medium red. Complex, soil-driven aromas and flavors of smoke, minerals and underbrush. Dense and fat, with nuanced flavors of cherry, smoke and earth along with a saline aspect. More material here than in the Corbeaux, finishing subtle and persistent, with the dusty, broad tannins arriving late. This cuvee got a total of only three punchdowns. I find this suaver and sweeter than the 2006 but still built to age. This is aging in 25% new oak, whereas the other 2007 premier crus are in mostly once-used barrels. |

Vinous (89+)Palish medium red. Aromatic, open-knit nose offers notes of cherry, rose petal and cinnamon. Tightly wound but not hard, with juicy, perfumed dark raspberry and floral flavors intensified by firm acidity and underlying minerality. Juicy, refreshing wine with riper tannins and more length than the Clos Prieur. I may be underrating this. |

Vinous (88)The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru feels a little earthy and disjointed on the nose and never quite gets out of second gear. The palate is medium-bodied with light, rather dry tannin, and simple and rather mealy toward the brettanomyces-tinged finish. This is a bit disappointing after a more promising barrel showing. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. |

Vinous (89-91)The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru has an attractive mulberry, strawberry and rose petal scents nose that just needs a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, quite strict and backward, just missing some finesse on the finish compared to the Clos Prieur. |

Burghound (91-94)(Sweet Spot) Along with the Latricières, this possesses the most elegant aromatic profile in the range with is exuberantly spicy and floral-suffused nose of red and dark pinot fruit, violet, rose petal and wet stone. The mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is a blend of power and refinement while displaying even more minerality on the balanced, long, firm and youthfully austere finale. This is also one to strongly consider. |

Burghound (89-91)(from 7 different lieux-dits). A mentholated top note can be found on the slightly riper aromas of plum, newly turned earth and a whisper of the sauvage. The sleek, delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors possess both fine vibrancy and detail while delivering solid length on the moderately austere and lightly rustic finale. This is a solid Gevrey villages and worth checking out. |

Wine Advocate (93)The 2009 Latricieres-Chambertin reveals gorgeous inner perfume and depth. The fruit is vibrant, chiseled and full of energy. Latricieres is one of the cooler sites in Gevrey, which was a big help in preserving freshness in 2009. A long, intense finish rounds things out in style. This is a superb wine from Rossignol-Trapet. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2029. |

Wine Advocate (94)Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very composed bouquet with fine delineation, bright redcurrant and cranberry fruit, later hints of dried blood and potpourri. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, gentle and yet harmonious with gorgeous mulberry and red plum fruit, underneath which lies very fine mineralité. With great length to boot, this is an excellent Latricières from Rossignol-Trapet. Tasted September 2016. |

Vinous (94+)The 2017 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is very stubborn and closed on the nose, then opens wonderfully to offer red cherries, wild strawberry and pomegranate scents, but frustratingly, it ebbs away with further aeration. Very mercurial. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine depth and grip, delivering admirable precision on the finish. It will need a few years to settle down, but it should come good in the end. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting. |

Give this 3–4 years in bottle. |
