    Domaine Ruppert-Leroy

    About Ruppert-Leroy

Founded in the guise of Ruppert-Leroy as we recognise it in 2010, it is the marital result of Emmanuel Leroy and Bénédicte Ruppert. It is in fact the latter’s family with a history of visionary viticulture in the Côte des Bar, with her father Gérard Ruppert being a pioneer of organic practices supplying fruit to some of the most prestigious wineries in the region. Having offered his daughter and her husband Emmanuel the chance to take over the family holdings, the fruit was immediately kept for themselves, and the first bottlings under Ruppert-Leroy began.

Fully Demeter certified and farming biodynamically to the highest standards, Ruppert-Leroy cultivates fruit across a selection of sublime high-altitude plots near Essoyes in the Aube area of Champagne. It is quite possibly the single most bio-diverse region in this corner of France with ancient thick forests, lively pastures and undulating valleys. These lieux-dits from which the husband-and-wife craft singular wines are a picture of flora and fauna in perfect harmony.

Each and every cuvée is the result of immaculate viticulture applied to very specific terroir. They are sourced from extremely low-yielding vines, many of which have some serious age, with fruit undergoing meticulous sorting before vinification occurs with natural yeasts. Aged in older oak barrels, every cuvée is bottled with neither dosage nor sulphur as a Brut Nature giving rise to immensely sculpted, taught and pure Champagnes that shimmer with latent energy.
