Shirvington Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 (1x150cl)

Wine Advocate (92)

The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon was 100% barrel-fermented and aged for 12 months in 75% new oak, 80% American, 20% French. Opaque purple-colored, it exhibits a fragrant, expressive perfume of toasty oak, vanilla, spice box, black currant, and blackberry liqueur. This is followed by a racy Cabernet, slightly lean, with intense black fruit flavors, good depth and concentration, and enough structure to support 8-10 years of development in the cellar.

Shirvington Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 (1x150cl)

Wine Advocate (92)

Composed of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Shiraz, the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon was 100% barrel fermented and aged for 12 months in 60% new oak and 40% one-year-old oak, with 55% American and 45% French barrels. It presents a deep garnet color and aromas of black currant cordial, black cherry preserves and dried plums over spice box, cloves, pencil lead, toast plus a whiff of lavender. Very full bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, the generosity of spicy berry flavors is well supported by a medium to firm level of very finely grained tannins and very crisp acid, finishing long and layered. Drinking nicely now, it should cellar to 2019+.

2004

Shirvington Shiraz 2004 (6x75cl)

Wine Advocate (95)

The sensational 2004 Shiraz’s inky/purple color is followed by aromas of graphite, blueberries, and creme de cassis. It offers wonderful purity, plenty of stuffing, toasty espresso notes from new oak barrels, admirable intensity, and a tremendous finish. Drink it over the next decade. Former winemakers Sarah and Sparky Marquis have left Shirvington and the wine is now being made by Kim Johnston. Little has changed, although the 2004s appear to be more streamlined and delicate than their 2003 and 2002 counterparts.

Shirvington Shiraz 2007 (1x150cl)

Wine Advocate (92)

Shirvington’s 2007 Shiraz spent 14 months in 80% new, mostly American oak. It displays an excellent nose of cigar box, lavender, cocoa, black cherry, and blueberry. This leads to a full-bodied, dense, structured Shiraz which comes off as just a bit sinewy. Aside from that, it has plenty of savory fruit, good balance, and a lengthy finish. It will require 3-4 years of additional cellaring and should be in full bloom from 2013 to 2027.

Shirvington Shiraz 2008 (1x150cl)

Wine Advocate (92)

Shirvington’s 2008 Shiraz gives a deep garnet-purple color and intense notes of warm black cherries and black raspberries over anise, chocolate box, allspice and vanilla pod. Very full-bodied and concentrated with 16% declared alcohol, this is a big mouthful yet well balanced with crisp acidity and medium-firm fine tannins, finishing long. Approachable now, it should blossom with another couple of years in bottle and drink through 2020+.
