The De Trafford wine estate is the source for some of South Africa's most well-made wines. Quality here is driven by the experimental attitude of trained architect-turned-winemaker David Trafford. The wine-making style is based entirely upon the potential of the vine and the fruit itself. Minimal intervention in the cellar and the gentlest of touches allow the wine to develop at its own pace and develop a true sense of place and terroir-driven expression.

There are bitter black tea and herbal notes that are expressed over the mid-palate and meshes well with the dark fruit and spice notes here. The finish is long and full-bodied, with a tight tannic grip. 3,504 bottles were bottled by hand, unfiltered and unfined. |
