In the world of fine wines, the l'Anglore Vejade 2018 is indeed a splendid example. Produced by Eric Pfifferling in Tavel, Southern Rhône, this wine epitomises the region’s bounty. The organically farmed Grenache and Clairette vines, aged around 50 years, lend an unmatched quality to 2018's harvest. Whereas many choose to age their wines, Pfifferling insists on ageing his for six months in old barrels, preserving the wine's authentic taste and aroma.

The l'Anglore Vejade 2018 exemplifies a blend of lustrous ruby hues and deep fruit flavours, creating an authentic natural wine experience. The nose teases with notes of raspberry, violets and spices, leading into a well-structured palate. In the mouth, it is harmonious and radiant, showcasing its minerality and freshness alongside an impressive longevity.

As an addition to your collection or to enjoy with a sumptuous meal, the l'Anglore Vejade 2018 truly encapsulates the art of exquisite winemaking.

Opulent and invigorating, l'Anglore, Le Ruisseau, VdF 2020 originates from the world-renowned Southern Rhône valley. Crafted by Eric Pfifferling, protegé of Domaine de l'Anglore, this vintage is notable for its nuanced blend of Grenache and Cinsault. Produced using organic and biodynamic principles, Eric believes in minimal intervention, allowing the grapes' natural character to shine. Fermented with native yeast and aged in old wooden foudres, the wine reveals a perfect harmony between intense freshness and subtle complexity.

L'Anglore, Le Ruisseau, VdF 2020 reveals an enchanting bouquet woven with herbal notes, ripe dark fruits, and underlying spicy character. The palate offers deep fruit concentration, balanced by elegant minerality and a vibrant acidity, culminating in a prolonged finish. Revel in the sensual pleasures of this wine that brilliantly encapsulates the best of l'Anglore's magnificent terroirs.

Wine Advocate (92)

The 1999 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts Saint Georges is elegant and expressive, bursting with aromas of violets, ripe berries, sweet spices and rich savory nuances. On the palate, it's ample, medium to full-bodied and satiny, with stunningly elegant structuring tannins, a succulent core of luscious fruit and a long, precise finish. This is a beautiful wine that is aging on its impeccable balance.

The 2010 Nuits St. Georges Clos des Forets St.-Georges is striking. Freshly cut flowers, spices and red berries are some of the many notes that are woven together. Though deceptively understated at first, the Forets St-Georges has plenty of underlying Nuits structure. A crystalline, totally pure finish laced with rose petals, spices and licorice wraps around the palate in stunning style. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030.

Vinous (93)

One of the clear standouts in this range, the Nuits Saint Georges Clos des Forets Saint Georges possesses superior muscle and pure depth. Black fruit, smoke, tobacco and licorice flesh out as this broad-shouldered, structured Nuits shows off its inimitable personality. Layers of fruit build to the huge, vibrant finish. This is a terrific example of both Nuits and Clos des Forets St. Georges.

Wine Advocate (93-95)

The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Fôrets Saint Georges includes around 55% whole bunch and is actually a blend of six different cuvées. What is interesting is that the whole bunch contribution is far less tangible in this compared to the Clos de l'Arlot. It is very well defined, quite sensual in style with very pure red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin: tart red cherry fruit, wild strawberry, saline in the mouth with a sappy finish that keeps drawing you back in. This is an outstanding contribution to the vintage, courtesy of winemaker Géraldine Godot.

The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts St Georges is a lovely wine in the making, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, wild berries, spices, licorice and smoked meats. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural, its muscular chassis of powdery tannin entirely cloaked in fruit, concluding with a long and nicely defined finish.

Vinous (94-96)

The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Forêts Saint Georges 1er Cru was also raised in 40% new oak. [Incidentally, 0.6ha will be planted with Chardonnay in 2024]. Slightly deeper in color compared to the Clos de l'Arlot, this has slightly more cohesion and complexity on the nose: dark cherries and crushed stone, a hint of wilted rose petals in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with beautifully integrated new oak, lending this a velvety veneer. It is a little plush yet with equivalent tension and a detailed, slightly piquant finish. This is an outstanding Nuits Saint-Georges from the Domaine.

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)

A mid crimson colour, slightly deeper than Mont des Oiseaux. Rather more pure red fruit on the bouquet. Fine tension, medium plus bodied, more strawberry than raspberry, with an even fruit through to the finish, where the fine tannins and light acidity are in balance. Drink from 2029-2036. Tasted: October 2023.

Vinous (96)

(100% vendange entier): Bright, dark red. Very ripe but rather brooding aromas of blueberry, licorice, violet and tropical dark chocolate. Then wonderfully perfumed and precise in the mouth, conveying an impression of thickness and inner-mouth tension without weight. The stems provide another dimension without dominating the wine's fruits and flowers. A spectacular example of 2015, not yet fleshy but very dense and seductively sweet. The bracing, mounting finish goes on and on. This wine will need many years of cellaring to unfold and yet it's easier to taste today than its 2016 sibling, as are most of these '15s.

Vinous (93-95)

The Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots is all about grace. Weightless, aromatically expressive and silky on the palate, the 2012 stands out for its feminine, graceful personality. Crushed flowers, sweet tobacco, licorice and leather meld into the generous, resonant finish. The Suchots is one of the least immediate wines in this range. Today it is contemplative and inward, but gorgeous all the same.

Wine Advocate (93-95)

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots includes 100% whole cluster with 50% new oak. It has a refined, elegant, mild-mannered bouquet with pure raspberry preserve, cranberry and subtle tobacco scents that unroll with aeration, though never quite delivering the opulence synonymous with the premier cru. The palate is medium-bodied with a gentle but insistent grip on the entry. In some ways, the whole bunch addition lends this structure and shifts it toward, say, a Malconsorts in style (not to suggest that is necessarily a bad thing!). Linear and precise, it will require 7 to 10 years in bottle to really show its best. The bottom line is that this is one of the finest Les Suchots that I tasted in 2016.
