Fresh clear pale colour. The nose has less character than my favourites in the line-up. Takes a little time, then more emerges. There is something of a steely backbone, this is nicely made but I pine for pinot in this vineyard. Well balanced. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted: October 2023.

The holding is next to Champ Canet rather than higher up towards Blagny. I am not finding much bouquet. There is plenty of density here, along with a youthful bitterness, as if lemon pips had been squeezed too strongly. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted: October 2023.

Mostly Clos de la Jacquelotte but with some more fruit outside the Clos. They used to sell the extra part, but now prefer to keep it. Pale lemon colour, with a pleasing bouquet, not quite the volume of fruit of Garenne on the nose, but more on the palate where fruit rather than flesh drives the wine. Good length, well made. A mix of their various plots throughout this large vineyard. Clear pure pale lemon and Iime. The bouquet is more perfumed to suggest additional ripeness. Very pure intense white fruit, with good acidity, and just a lick of honeysuckle. The whole is very well balanced and will be delicious. Drink from 2027-2035. Tasted: October 2023.

Pale lime and lemon. More electric on the nose with a slight citrus too. Clean white fruit at the front of the palate, more power behind, a good example but not quite the precision of the finest. The finish continues well and shows a riper countenance. Drink from 2028-2036. Tasted: October 2023.

Decanter (95)

There is more depth and structure in the Epenots than in the village wine, but this latter is still approachable and forward, with ripe black plum and mulberry fruit and hints of lavender, menthol, and star anise. The texture is dense, and the tannins are supple but supportive, leading the whole to a pleasantly persistent finish. The grapes are 90% from Grands Epenots and 10% from Petits Epenots; they are fermented as whole clusters and aged in used casks to produce this memorable wine.

Wine Advocate (93-96)

A brilliant wine in the making, Dauvissat's 2022 Chablis 1er Cru La Forest unfurls in the glass with youthfully reductive scents of citrus oil, crisp stone fruit, white flowers, oyster shell and subtle hints of orange blossom. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with superb depth at the core and an electric finish, this cuvée has navigated the vintage's extremes with ease.

Wine Advocate (92-94)

The 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Séchet unwinds in the glass with aromas of crisp stone fruits, ripe lemons, white flowers, clear honey and subtle hints of warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, cool and satiny, the vintage has lent this a gracious charm that isn't always typical of young Séchet, but the wine's searingly mineral signature remains front and center.
