The 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses Blanc comes mainly from Les Belles Filles and from contracted must. The well-defined nose has very light nougat scents percolating through the citrus fruit. The palate is well-balanced with a fresh, slightly flinty opening. Nothing complex, yet focused with a fine sense of linearity on the finish. Drink over the next 4-6 years.

The 2022 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a refined and harmonious bouquet with red berry fruit, wild hedgerow and light oyster shell notes, ameliorating all the time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit, truffle and black pepper. It's quite complex and very long on the finish. Superb.

Light to mid crimson. Intoxicating, floral-layered red fruit with a touch of pepper. On the palate, entirely seductive with intense and pure dark-red fruits. Excellent combination of concentration, freshness and length. Then a savoury aftertaste all tangled up in the tannic elegance.

Mid lemon yellow. A very slight toasty note. This is fuller than the more mineral Croix de Pierre, as it gets the western sun, but that makes for a very pleasing, rounded mouthful. Drink from 2026-2031. Tasted: October 2023.

Glowing fresh crimson colour. The nose shows fresh fruit without detail as yet. I am impressed by the weight and energy of this very promising Clos Vougeot There is plenty up front, muscular, but enough behind too. A beautiful finish as pure class peeps throughout. Vinous - Neal Martin (94-96)

The 2022 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a perfumed, very floral bouquet with wilted rose petals and touches of lavender, complementing the vivacious red fruit. It is an archetypal Echézeaux. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and a fine bead of acidity. It’s quite peppery towards the finish, so you might misconstrue it as containing some whole bunches. Very satisfying complexity on the finish; this is an excellent Eche.

The 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses Clos de la Croix de Pierre has more detail and terroir expression than the Combottes: well-defined with crushed stone and dried yellow flowers complementing the citrus fruit. The palate is well-balanced with a waxy texture. A dash of white pepper enlivens this Pernand, which fans out nicely on the finish. One of my picks from Jadot's whites this year.

In foudre. Fine mid purple. The bouquet shows the cooler aspects of Pernand though this is a fine east facing vineyard. Really racy lively stuff with excellent energy behind, concentrated fresh raspberry. This should also age well even though the tannins do not spring to the fore – but there is a natural sense of balance. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted: October 2023.

Burghound (91-94)

(from a huge 3 ha parcel superbly placed high on the slope, across from the Château that is mostly in the lieu-dit of Chioures with a small parcel in Grand Maupertui). An unusually spicy nose for young Clos de Vougeot is comprised by pretty red and dark berries along with hints of earth and wood. The delicious and beautifully textured middleweight flavors are not particularly dense though this still display good power and drive on the dusty, youthfully austere and well-balanced finale. This is lovely and fashioned in an understated style

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-96)

Another rich dark colour. Half new wood, but it seems to dominate much less here than it did in the Boudots. There is plenty of substance but the desirable Echezeaux nuances are there too. Give this time to refine and I think it will make an excellent Echezeaux. Drink from 2032-2039. Tasted: December 2023.

50% whole bunch vinification, for the southern side planted in 1944, while the 1992 planting is destemmed. Thibault pushes the extraction a little more here. A dense dark concentrated purple. This policy fills out the middle palate more with a dark black fruit but leaves the finish on the dry side with a little torrefaction. Drink from 2032-2040. Tasted: November 2023.
