What's New on Cru
-
One of the oldest estates in the Medoc their wine structures very well to age, a characteristic of the best Bordeaux wines. The 1996 is full bodied with typical muscularity and good concentration. There is lots of ripe tannin but even more fruit presence.Inc. VAT£4,916.47
-
Wine Spectator (97)
This wine is made by Christian Moueix, who also makes Pétrus and Trotanoy. A fleshy, classically proportioned wine--like a Reubens painting in structure--with ripe berry, truffle and chocolate characteristics, mouth-coating tannins and a long finish of sweet fruit. Can age for decades.--1982 Bordeaux horizontal. Drink now through 1998.Inc. VAT£4,562.47 -
Vinous - Stephen Tanzer (91+)
Red-ruby. Highly aromatic nose of raspberry, redcurrant, graphite, licorice and cedar. Leanish, dry and classic, with firm acidity but less flesh than the '96. Lovely traditionally made claret, with terrific finesse and grip. Still evolving. (A second bottle showed a somewhat leathery nose and came across as drier in the middle palate; it was not quite as fresh as the better sample.) Drink now through 2020.Inc. VAT£3,490.80 -
Wine Advocate (92)
Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London. The 2006 Les Forts de Latour has a much more precise and lively bouquet than the Le Petit Mouton: blackberry, briary and vanilla emerging from the glass, suggesting that it needs another couple of years to reach its peak. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, commendable depth of fruit and tangible mineralité. This is better than some of the Pauillac Grand Vins, such is the detail and energy on the finish. Superb. Tasted January 2016.Inc. VAT£1,958.47 -
James Suckling (93)
Lots of cassis and floral aromas with hints of spice such as white pepper. Full body, silky tannins and a bright and clean finish. Goes on for minutes. Pretty Les Forts. Drink or hold.Inc. VAT£1,958.47 -
Wine Spectator (95-100)
Incredible aromas of violets and currants. Full-bodied and very tannic, but loads of ripe fruit and a superlong finish. What can I say? This is amazing. If you love Lynch, buy this. Score range: 95-100Inc. VAT£2,738.47
