Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)
A rich deep purple, super saturated, with a bouquet to match. A full and firm structure with Thomas Collardot’s abundant fruit flowing over the top. A darker fruit with a blackberry note, but not the mulberry which would imply over-ripeness. The 20% whole bunch vinification adds an additional freshness, a slight salinity which works very well. Drink from 2032-2040.Inc. VAT£1,339.49 -
Vinous (99)
The 2013 is the most powerful, dense young Salon I have ever tasted. Champagne of mind-bending complexity, the 2013 possesses tremendous mid-palate intensity and power from the very first taste. Lemon confit, dried flowers, mint and a touch of brioche appear first, followed by light tropical accents that add an exotic flair. Imagine the sizzling energy of the 2008 and the persistence of 2004, with more mid-palate richness and riper fruit. Two-thousand thirteen was a cool, late ripening year. Harvest started at the beginning of October under sunny, dry days and cool nights, conditions that have not been seen since then. Readers will find a spectacular, modern Salon endowed with tremendous depth and very little of the youthful austerity that once defined Champagnes from cooler years here. The 5.5 grams per liter of dosage is perfectly judged. In a word: Magnificent.Inc. VAT£3,189.62 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)
From old vines of around 60-65 years on average. Fresh pale colour with a light green tint. Clear pale colour, slightly smoky, good volume of fruit, the smoke coming out in the mouth as reduction on the seashells. Solid weight here, plus the minerals as well. Pretty good intensity across the piece with density at the back. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted: June 2022Inc. VAT£431.54 -
Burghound (93-96)
Cool and strikingly elegant aromas include those of quinine, white peach, spice and an abundance of classic Chablis notes. The dense yet wonderfully refined medium-weight flavors brim with dry extract on the gorgeously long, balanced and highly complex finale. This is extremely stylish and very promising.
