Star anise, red plum and red cherry on this complex and bright nose. Silky smooth but plentiful tannins frame an expansive core of floral red fruits on the palate. Quite marked smoky, chocolatey oak at this stage but such is the power of fruit that it should knit together well with time.

A very cool and tight Corton Charlemagne with the intense spice, bold structure and steeliness that we expect from this appellation. Staggering concentration, which at this early stage makes the wine slightly austere, but all this gives it great aging potential. Fantastic integration of oak, fruit and mineral acidity at the amazing finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.

  • Lynch Bages 2018 (6x75cl)

    Jeb Dunnuck (98+)

One of the finest vintages I've ever tasted from this address, the 2018 Château Lynch-Bages has everything you look for in a great wine: incredible aromatics, richness without weight, perfect balance, and a purity of fruit that's just about off the charts. Dense purple, it reveals a glorious perfume of blackcurrants and blackberry fruits, a deep, unctuous mouthfeel, building tannins, and a complex array of cedar pencil, tobacco, wood smoke, and chocolate. A true blockbuster in every sense, with masses of fruit and tannins as well as moderate acidity, it will probably merit a triple-digit score in a decade and is a 50+-year wine from this team.

  • Malartic Lagraviere 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Neal Martin (95)

The 2020 Malartic-Lagravière, which represents just 40% of the total production, was cropped at 26hL/ha. It has a very delineated nose with intense blackberry, raspberry, sous-bois and incense aromas that just "sing" of Pessac-Léognan. The palate is medium-bodied, finely-knit tannins, fresh and vibrant with beguiling purity. Harmonious and silky smooth, it belies the depth and complexity of this marvelous Malartic. This is superb and it will mature beautifully in bottle.

  • Marjosse Anthologie Cuvee Gros Bec 2020 (6x75cl)

    The Wine Independent (96)

The 2020 Anthologie Cuvee Gros Bec is 100% Malbec from very old vines planted in 1949. The wine is fermented in barrel without too much extraction and aged for a maximum of one year to keep the fresh aromas. Production is very small. Deep garnet-purple in color, it storms out of the glass with powerful notes of baked blackberries, stewed plums, and boysenberry preserves, plus wafts of Chinese five spice, dark chocolate, and candied violets. The full-bodied palate is overflowing with gregarious black and blue fruits, framed by velvety tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

It has a high-toned bouquet of blueberry and raspberry fruit, and little cassis emerges with time in the glass. • Pavie-Macquin 2020 (6x75cl)

    Vinous - Antonio Galloni (100)

The 2020 Pavie Macquin is sensational. Rich, dark and explosive, the 2020 balances the natural richness that is such a signature of the estate with a level of energy and vibrancy I have not seen here in the recent past. The result is a towering, imposing Pavie Macquin that hugely delivers. In this vintage, regisseur Nicolas Thienpont did not use the Cabernet Sauvignon, so the blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc lending aromatic presence, energy and depth. What a total knock out!

  • Pierre Girardin Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts 2019 (6x75cl)

An exceptional vintage, Pierre Girardin Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts 2019 hails from the revered appellation of Vosne-Romanée in the heart of Burgundy. This exquisite red wine is the esteemed creation of Pierre Girardin, the 13th generation of his family to become a winemaker and a youthful prodigy in the art.

Meticulously crafted using 100% Pinot Noir grapes from 40-year-old vines, it undergoes traditional vinification with minimal intervention to retain its unique terroir character. The wine has been aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, lending it a richness and complexity that is truly captivating.

On the palate, Pierre Girardin Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts 2019 presents a profound balance of intense red and black fruit aromas, silky tannins, and a subtle hint of spice. Its finish is long and sophisticated, promising excellent ageing potential.

  • Pontet Canet 2018 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (98)

The 2018 Pontet-Canet is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. It was aged in 55% oak barriques and 45% amphorae. Deep garnet-purple colored, it explodes from the glass with an atomic perfume of raspberry pie, blackcurrant pastilles, rose oil and Chinese five spice, giving way to suggestions of cinnamon stick, dusty soil, pencil lead and underbrush. The rich, seductive, full-bodied palate is a hedonist's dream, delivering layer-upon-layer of black and red berry preserves with loads of fragrant accents, a beautifully firm yet plush texture and tons of freshness, finishing long with a whole firework display of exotic spices. This is pretty much out-of-the-gate delicious, but it has the backbone to evolve over three decades or more.

Full-bodied with layers of ripe fruit and ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate in an encompassing yet always elegant and pure way. It’s succulent and unadulterated. Like crushed, perfectly ripened grapes. The length is rather endless. The tannins build. Fabulous young red. 35% in amphora and the rest in 50% new oak and 15% one-year oak. 65% cabernet sauvignon and 30% merlot, the rest cabernet franc and petit verdot. From biodynamically grown grapes. • Pontet Canet 2023 (6x75cl)

    Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux (98-100)

A wine to convince you of the quality and ripeness of Cabernet Sauvignon in Pauillac in this 2023 vintage, showcasing superbly supple tannins, great balance, depth and savoury blue and black fruit character, bitter cocoa bean, freshly cut herbs, black tea, fennel, all vivid and with purity of character. There is density here but it is not overt, with heightened raspberry leaf, peony and violet aromatics. Vinified in the newly-completed section of the cellars, in egg-shaped wooden vats and sunken qveri-style clay vats. 50% new oak for ageing, with 35% amphora and 15% one year old barrels. One of the wines of the vintage. New lighter bottle as of the 2022 around 490g, down from 815g in the past, 30 tonnes of CO2 saved just in terms of production. Harvest September 7, one day earlier than 2022, then slow picking through to October 10, later than many in Pauillac - and normal yields of around 40hl/h.
