Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (94-97)
A rich deep purple, super saturated, with a bouquet to match. A full and firm structure with Thomas Collardot’s abundant fruit flowing over the top. A darker fruit with a blackberry note, but not the mulberry which would imply over-ripeness. The 20% whole bunch vinification adds an additional freshness, a slight salinity which works very well. Wine Advocate (94-96)
From a parcel in the celebrated Clos Poirier, which touches le Montrachet, Morey's 2019 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru mingles notes of orange oil and pear with hints of blanched almonds, dried white flowers, beeswax and struck match. Full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's rich and concentrated, with a deep, textural core, lively acids and a bright, saline finish. As usual, readers should note that this wine is identical to the Bâtard-Montrachet released under the Morey-Blanc label.Inc. VAT£3,143.09 -

The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is built to age, unwinding slowly in the glass with textbook scents of lemon oil, crisp green apple, white flowers and wet stones. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's tensile, electric but youthfully introverted, with immense promise for the future but little in the way of immediate gratification. This is a cuvée that needs a minimum of a decade to show its cards in most vintages, and that's certainly the case for the 2017.Inc. VAT£1,703.09 -

William Fevre own 46ha of AP Chablis but there was lots of frost damage in 2021 - the yield was just 18hl/ha! Lovely floral notes here, very precise and focussed. This is already appealing although the acidity is certainly evident. Lingering spice notes on the finish. From a tank sample, with bottling due in November.
