Wine Advocate (100)Deep garnet in color, the 2009 Pavie drifts effortlessly and profoundly from the glass with baked plums, spice cake, sandalwood, Black Forest cake and blueberry pie scents followed up with a fragrant undercurrent of potpourri, unsmoked cigars and bouquet garni. Full-bodied, rich and plush, this is pure seduction in the mouth, offering a taut yet velvety texture and oodles of freshness to frame the opulent fruit, finishing very long and mineral laced. |

James Suckling (99)Gorgeous aromas of ceps and dark fruits with lots of forest fruit too. Love the nose of forest fruits. Incredibly deep. Full-bodied, with super chewy tannins. Powerful and rich with hints of wood. This is a powerful yet classic wine. I love the complexity to this - the balance. The density and compacted character to this is superb. Try after 2018. |

The vast majority of buyers and collectors will no doubt be aware of the unbelievable quality of 2009 as a vintage across the entirety of Bordeaux. Touted at the time as the "vintage of the century", the title would have most likely been without question were it not for 2016. We sincerely hope you have plenty of both in your cellars! Only time will tell which has the upper hand...
A wine of complete pedigree, which has never moved from the cellars of Pichon Lalande itself. This is an incredibly rare opportunity to secure a case of something which shall be discussed by critics and experts for decades to come with perfect provenance.
"Dense and voluptuous in the glass, with serious richness, 2009 is also almost shockingly tannic. It won’t be ready to drink anytime soon, and yet, there is so much to look forward to" - Antonio Galloni (Vinous)
"Combining the best of a vintage such as 1996, in terms of structure, freshness, and precision, with the best of 1982, in terms of opulence, power, unctuosity, and thickness" - Robert M. Parker Jr.

Vinous - Neal Martin (92)The 2009 Potensac has an attractive bouquet with blackberry, melted tar, black tea and graphite scents. Nicely defined it maybe a little conservative given the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity. Classic in style with fine graphite and cedar notes towards the finish. Enjoy this now and over the next decade. Tasted at BI Wines & Spirits' Ten Year On tasting. |

James Suckling (93)A soft and fruity wine, with orange peel and berries and plums. Full body, with super fine tannins and a fruity finish. Refined and very pretty. Structured in the end. Fresh. Succulent. A style away from the over extracted one a few years ago. Try after 2018. |

Vinous - Neal Martin (91)The 2009 Rauzan-Gassies has a refined bouquet with blackberry, cedar and light graphite notes, maybe a little closed down though, it opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, and fine acidity. Chewy with plenty of blackberry and bilberry fruit laced with sea salt and brine towards the finish. Give it another coupe of years. Not amazing, but certainly one of the best recent vintages that I have encountered. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2009 Bordeaux tasting. |

Wine Advocate (91)Made from a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, the second wine, the 2009 Reserve de la Comtesse, exhibits notes of forest floor, white chocolate, licorice, black currants and vanillin-infused black cherries. It possesses a sweet, round, generous style given its high glycerin. Both the Reserve de la Comtesse and Pichon Lalande have about 13% alcohol, slightly lower than most Pauillacs achieved in 2009. Drink it over the next 10 years. |

Vinous - Ian D'Agata (87-90)(80% merlot, 10% cabernet sauvignon and 10% petit verdot) Ruby-purple. Perfumed aromas of fresh blackcurrant, minerals and mint. Suave, fine-grained and vibrant, with a stony mineral quality framing the vibrant black fruit and cedar flavors. Finishes classy and long, with chewy but ripe tannins, very good energy and noteworthy verve. Since 2008, this wine is made using only the grapes grown on the property's clay-and-limestone parcels, while owner Denis Dubourdieu uses the grapes grown on sandier plots in other wines. The best Reynon rouge ever. |
