Vinous (94-96)The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has a perfumed and enticing bouquet with brambly black fruit, black truffle and Earl Grey aromas gently wafting from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins. The whole bunch influence is discrete here but lends an attractive white pepper and clove note towards the finish that fans out wonderful whilst maintaining freshness and tension. Just outflanked by the Aux Malconsorts, nevertheless, this is a brilliant Les Beaux Monts. |

Wine Advocate (93-96)Tasted from several barrels, the 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Cros Parantoux was showing very well, unfurling in the glass with aromas of sweet berries, dark spices, grilled meats, rich soil and rose petal. On the palate, it's full-bodied, multidimensional and concentrated with a sappy core of fruit and the vertical line that routinely marks the wines from this comparatively cool site, concluding with a long and precise finish. It's a brilliant wine. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (95-98)(5-Star Wine) A great vintage for these cooler sites. What an explosion of fruit! A dense full but not exaggerated purple, then the wine goes back into its shell a little, but with gorgeous harmony, a match for his neighbour’s wine. How to explain all the fruits? More on the darker side but intense pinpricks of red notes too and a most harmonious, indeed blissful, finish. |

Burghound (93-95)(Don't Miss! Outstanding) Firm reduction renders the nose unreadable at present. Otherwise, the palate impression of the markedly intense larger-bodied flavors is a bit denser with good power and an almost pungent minerality, all wrapped in a compact and hugely long finish that is noticeably more complex. This is very promising and while the 2021 Cros won't rival the best vintages of this storied wine, it's more than respectable. |

Dense and sappy in the mouth, offering attractive spicy lift to the cranberry and redcurrant flavors. Subtler and finer than the village wine, and showing a firm mineral underpinning, but also oakier in the early going. This will need patience. |

The palate is medium-bodied with palpable energy. Taut and fresh, this is a Vosne-Romanée Village that displays wonderful focus and might be my pick of Rouget’s wines if price is factored in. Recommended. |

In a region with some of the world’s most expensive and sought after Pinot Noir, the appellation of Vosne-Romanee is at the very top of this list, consistently outshining even its most impressive neighbours. Much has been waxed poetic about these wines, which are praised for their intensity, power, finesse, richness, and overall elegance. There are eight Grand Cru vineyards here including Richebourg, Romanee-Saint-Vivant, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, as well as the monopoles La Grande Rue (Domaine Lamarche), La Romanee (Comte Liger-Belair), and Romanee-Conti and La Tache (both monopoles of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.)
