Vinous (95)The 2013 Richebourg Grand Cru is a wonderful wine. Here it has a superb, quite aristocratic bouquet with wild strawberry, crushed stone, clove and just a subtle marine tincture. It just seems to grow in stature. The palate is extremely well balanced with firm backbone, great density with a muscular, quite grippy finish. It just gives you everything you want from a Richebourg. Tasted at Goedhuis & Co.'s annual Burgundy tasting in London. |

Wine Advocate (92-94)The 2014 Richebourg Grand Cru clearly has the best bouquet amongst the A.F. Gros range: wonderful, minerally red berry fruit, dried flowers and just a hint of warm gravel in the background. It gains intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe tannin. The acidity is very well judged and there is a creamy texture lending harmony to this Richebourg. I do think it is the most complex Richebourg I have tasted from the domaine in recent years, but it is one of the most sensual. Give it 8-10 years in bottle so that it can show what it can do. |

Vinous (90-92)The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Aux Réas was a touch reduced and therefore less giving than the Les Chalandins. The stems (40% here) are neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a salty entry, very marine influenced, nicely balanced with bright blueberry and strawberry fruit on the sorbet-fresh finish. Plenty of energy - this should age with style. |

Discreet up front then some cherries emerge further back. A spicy style of Vosne after the gloss of Chalandins, with perhaps greater length as well as structure. Drink from 2029-2034. Burghound (96)There is an all-but-invisible touch of brett present on the otherwise pretty and beautifully layered nose that features notes of various dark berries, violets and a wide range of spice elements. The gorgeously refined middle weight flavors possess a suave and silky mouth feel before culminating in a strikingly complex finish that seems to dance across the palate while delivering flat out huge length. This is still moderately firm yet with air it could easily be enjoyed now. Note that my score offers the benefit of the doubt regarding the brett as I have no other recent notes and thus I can't say whether this bottle was entirely representative. |

Vinous (97)The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru comes from an expanded parcel, the "extension" only planted (at 16,000 vines per hectare) in 2015 after being fallow for over a century. The total area is 0.1854-hectares. It has a brilliantly defined bouquet with vivid red fruit, crushed limestone and crushed rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant, lithe tannins, a mixture of red and black fruit. Slightly granular in texture, hints of hoisin toward the finish with a long saline aftertaste. This squares up to the RSV and questions its superiority...it's that good. |

Pascal Lachaux noted that in most of his premier and grand crus, he made more wine in 2008 than in either 2009 or 2007. |

In a region with some of the world’s most expensive and sought after Pinot Noir, the appellation of Vosne-Romanee is at the very top of this list, consistently outshining even its most impressive neighbours. Much has been waxed poetic about these wines, which are praised for their intensity, power, finesse, richness, and overall elegance. There are eight Grand Cru vineyards here including Richebourg, Romanee-Saint-Vivant, Echezeaux, Grands Echezeaux, as well as the monopoles La Grande Rue (Domaine Lamarche), La Romanee (Comte Liger-Belair), and Romanee-Conti and La Tache (both monopoles of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti.)
