The 2015 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a gorgeous, seductive, complex bouquet of intermingled layers of red and black fruit and touches of sous-bois, sage and rose petals. The palate is finely tuned and a little oaky at the moment, though the oak will be soaked up with time. This is well balanced, displaying a fine bead of acidity, impressive precision and a very persistent finish that is pure joy. An outstanding Mazis from Bernstein. Dry, the tannins paper-fine. All in elegance even though the fruit is fully, darkly ripe. Again there is a hint of oak sweetness but very much in the background. Finishes moderately persistent, with a slightly diffuse quality. This will need to put on weight and gain in complexity to warrant a higher rating, but it's certainly clean and precise.Inc.
