The Carlin de Paolo Barolo 2015 is a distinguished embodiment of Italy's renowned wine culture. This exceptional red hails from the iconic Barolo region, lauded for its Nebbiolo grapes, responsible for the wine's distinctive strength and longevity. The creators, Carlin de Paolo, have masterfully crafted this vintage over a span of three years in Slavonian oak barrels, lending a subtle, yet complex character. The Barolo 2015 pays homage to its terroir with earthy notes of tobacco and truffle, intertwined with hints of black cherry and plum. On the palate, its full-bodied nature unfolds harmoniously combined with intensely rich tannins, paving way for a lingering finish. An ideal companion to richly flavoured cuisine, this wine is a testament to Carlin de Paolo's extraordinary commitment to quality and tradition. In the idiom of fine wines, the Carlin de Paolo Barolo 2015 is indeed a veritable symphony of Italian excellence, capturing the very essence of their celebrated vinticulture. |

Vinous (87)The 2006 Barolo comes across as dried out and austere, even within the context of this super-classic vintage. Dried flowers, iron, orange peel and dried cherries add nuance over time, but it is the tannins and overall structure that dominate today. |

Vinous (91)Mario Fontana's 2013 Barolo is quite a bit more imposing than the Castiglione Falletto bottling. Dark cherry, plum, smoke, licorice, menthol and melted road tar fill out the wine's super-classic, mid-weight frame. The 2013 has more fruit and better balance, along with less austerity, than most other recent vintages have shown. And that, is of course, great news. Powerful, deep and muscular, the 2013 Barolo is a super-classic, old-school Barolo loaded with personality. The 2013 is a blend of fruit from Villero, Mariondino (both in Castiglione Falletto) and Giachini (in La Morra). |

Vinous (88)The 2015 Barolo from Cascina Fontana is an attractive wine, but I would prefer to drink it over the next handful of years, maximum, because of its modest structure and forward profile. Dried cherry, worn-in leather, tobacco, cedar and spice, along with resolved tannins, are signatures of a wine that is mature, or very close to it. There is enough depth and resonance to support a few years in the cellar, but not much more. |

Dazzle your palate with the Cascina Fontana Barolo 2016, a sumptuous Italian red wine of exceptional character. This meticulously crafted vintage, produced in limited quantities in the esteemed Barolo region of Piedmont, Italy, exhibits the expert vintner skills of Mario Fontana - the sixth-generation winemaker at the helm of Cascina Fontana. With immense care, Fontana harvests Nebbiolo grapes from his family-owned vineyard, which are then fermented naturally and aged gracefully in a mix of Slovenian oak and French barriques. The result is a robust, full-bodied wine with layered complexity. Revel in bouquets of rose petals, cherries, and earthy truffles for a truly mesmerising olfactory experience. Upon tasting, the Cascina Fontana Barolo 2016 gives way to harmonious notes of dark berries, dried herbs, and delicate spices, intermingling with silky tannins and refreshing acidity. A superb choice for serious wine aficionados, the Cascina Fontana Barolo 2016 embodies the quintessential Barolo - intriguing, convoluted and utterly captivating. |
