Wine Advocate (95)The 2010 Barolo Briccotto is immensely soft and velvety with a bold and immediate style that is uncommon in the 2010 vintage. Compared to other wines from 2010 that are initially shy and hesitant, the Barolo Briccotto sings in a loud and clear voice the second you pour it from the bottle. Drink: 2017-2035. |

Vinous (96)(Clerico is no longer using Ginestra on the label as of 2007: a change in the law recognized numerous crus, including Ginestra, but since many other growers use Ginestra on their labels, Clerico decided to name this wine after his own parcel): Medium red. Deeper and richer on the nose than the Pajana, with scents of redcurrant, mocha, dried flowers and earth. Wonderfully deep, layered and sweet; lush but with good limestone lift. This floods the palate with flavor and lingers with exceptional purity and persistence. |

Vinous (95+)Good full red. Liqueur-like plum and black cherry on the nose. Then fine-grained and classy but tightly wound, showing utterly primary flavors of cherry, red berries and menthol. There's no way into this extremely backward wine today. But it has the racy acidity and excellent clarity for a spectacular evolution in bottle. |

Vinous (92)The 2015 Barolo Ciabot Mentin shows a bit more body and richness than the Pajana, but it, too, looks like an early maturing wine. Black cherry, plum, licorice, spice and menthol all flesh out in this attractive, mid-weight Barolo. Bright Ginestra floral and mineral notes develop with time in the glass, adding freshness and vivacity. |

Wine Advocate (97)The 1990 Barolo Pajana is the first wine Clerico produced from this vineyard. It is also one of the most positive surprises in my recent tastings of the vintage. In 1990 Clerico made this Barolo using only the old portions of the vineyard, and that may be the reason the wine has aged so beautifully. Richer, rounder and softer than the Ciabot Mentin Ginestra, the 1990 Pajana is just superb in a sumptuous, enveloping expression of ripe, dark fruit. Tobacco, cedar, sweet spices, roasted coffee beans and plums are just some of the nuances that emerge from this full-bodied, intense Barolo. Clerico’s 1990 Barolo Pajana is a gem! Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. |

Vinous (93)This strong series continues with the 2001 Barolo Pajana. It too is a deeply-colored effort, with notes of violets, minerals and tar that appear out of the glass. The lower altititude of the vineyard gives a wine that is perhaps a touch less complex aromatically but that is quite rich, round and soft on the palate with generous amounts of very ripe black fruit, chocolate and toasted oak flavors supported by notable structure and finishing with excellent length. |

Vinous (94+)Good medium red. Less expressive on the nose than the Briccotto, hinting at ripe, musky plum, black raspberry, menthol and tobacco. Then smooth and sweet in the mouth, but with terrific energy keeping the red fruit and tobacco flavors fresh and primary. Sweeter and more elegant in style than the 2009, but this fine-grained, firmly tannic wine really shut down in the glass. Outstanding potential here. |

Wine Advocate (94)The Pajana vineyard is known for its loose, sandy soils and red-colored earth, and the 2014 growing season brought cool and wet conditions. This cru is a nice, loyal expression of those Nebbiolo grapes. The 2014 Barolo Pajana is dark and thickly structured, and probably more accessible overall. This wine can be enjoyed in the medium-term, after five years (more or less) of cellar time. It saw 16 months in barrique, another 16 months in botte grande and a couple of years in the bottle. |

Vinous (90.5)The 2016 Barolo Pajana is ample, powerful and resonant, with terrific body and a real sense of expansiveness that builds with time in the glass. Sweet spice, citrus and floral overtones add brightness to this attractive, mid-weight Barolo. The 2016 is deep and yet also tannic. I would prefer to cellar it for at least a few years. |

A quintessential classic, E. Molino Barolo Bricco Rocche 2020 ali a wine connoisseur. Born in Piedmont's prestigious Langhe hills, famously recognised for producing some of Italy's finest wines, it’s a testament to the art of winemaking. This remarkable Barolo is crafted using 100% Nebbiolo grapes which are delicately hand-harvested from the Bricco Rocche’s steep, south-facing single vineyard. Benefiting from optimal sunny exposure, the vines yield complex, structured wine brimming with intense aromas and balanced acidity. Paying homage to the region's rich winemaking history, E. Molino, the legendary producer, implements traditional cellar practices, ageing the wine for a lengthy period in Slavonian oak barrels, refining its tannic structure and enhancing its characteristic ruby hue. Undoubtedly, E. Molino Barolo Bricco Rocche 2020 lavishly encapsulates the 'King of Wines' reputation, presenting a luxurious palate of dried fruit, velvety tannins, and a profound finish. Captivating even the most discerning palates, this exemplar adds a touch of sophistication to any wine collection. |

Jeb Dunnuck (97)The 2017 Barolo Arborina is introspective on opening, before beginning to unfurl and release a bouquet of cassis, espresso, brushed leather, and violets. The palate is full without weight and is inviting with ripe black cherry, cocoa powder, and cedar. The tannins are fine and polished, with an undeniable luxurious quality and refinement. Hold 3-5 years and drink 2025-2050. |

Wine Advocate (95)The 2011 Barolo Unoperuno is an excruciating labor of love. Uno per uno means one for one in Italian and that's how each grape is removed from its cluster. With such a labor-intensive regime, only five barriques of this wine are produced. This manual destemming means that the wine does not show any of the bitter astringency you can get with stem inclusion or even mechanical destemming. The tannins come from the seeds. The Arborina vineyard is the source of fruit and this is the second year that Barolo Unoperuno is produced. It shows a lighter garnet color and pure aromas of wild berry, dried blueberries and cassis. This ensemble is finely textured and elegant. The tannins are silky and lightweight. It takes ten days and ten people to execute the destemming process. |

Wine Advocate (97)The Elio Altare 2016 Barolo Unoperuno is a special wine with a high price tag that is explained by the manual labor required for its creation. "Uno per uno" means "one at a time" in Italian, and the fruit, the actual individual berries, are selected by hand during a super precise sorting operation. It represents a blend of Arborina in La Morra, Cannubi in Barolo, Pernanno in Castiglione Falletto, Sarmassa in Barolo and Cerretta in Serralunga d'Alba. This is a grounded and powerful wine (with a potent 15.5% alcohol content). It reveals cherry cough drop, blackberry preserves and candied orange peel. There is smoke and spice acquired during two years of oak aging. A precious few 1,200 bottles were produced, berry by berry. |
