De Montille
Domaine de Montille in the Cote de Beaune was developed by Hubert de Montille in 1951. His family have aristocratic roots in the region’s land since the 17th century. Now run by his son, Etienne, they use traditional wine making techniques to produce pure elegant Burgundy that generally requires five years bottle ageing.

Vinous (91-93)
The 2021 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru comprises just one-third as much fruit as in 2022 and demanded twice as many treatments. It is just missing a bit of presence on the nose, with hints of white flowers and honeysuckle. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, orange pith and hints of white peach and touches of white tea towards a very elegant finish. Hopefully, the aromatics will awaken by the time of bottling.Inc. VAT£2,786.98 -
Vinous (91-93)
(25% new oak): Bright yellow. A touch of reduction but still a captivating fruitiness to the aromas and flavors of lemon, lime and crushed stone. Rich, savory, concentrated wine with a restrained sweetness and enlivening underlying minerality. More tactile, pliant and deep than the Poruzots. This silky, edge-free wine finishes classically dry and long, with lovely lemony lift and grip.Inc. VAT£1,460.47 -

The 2021 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a superb bouquet with wonderful mineralité that clearly defines the climat. The palate is very well balanced, linear and tensile, elegant and poised towards the finish with a touch of lemon sherbet on the aftertaste. Very classy.Inc. VAT£1,257.89 -

Vinous (93-95)
The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru has a perfumed, mineral-driven nose that is one of the best amongst de Montille's whites: tensile and brimming with vivacity. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry, lime and grapefruit merging into slightly more tropical fruit towards the finish, but the tension is here throughout. This is a triumph given the season.Inc. VAT£1,257.89 -
Vinous (92)
The 2018 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru has an energetic, focused, flinty bouquet with a spring in its step. The terroir comes through beautifully. The palate is quite effervescent with crisp acidity and good tension. Citrus-fresh and vibrant towards the finish, this has a dash of spice lingering on the aftertaste. Superb.
