Fourrier
This small Burgundy Domaine has been producing some very well-regarded wines from its base in Gevrey-Chambertin. Producing wines in the region over four generations, there are few producers with as much regional expertise. The current vigneron, Jean-Marie Fourrier took over in 1994 after completing an internship with Henri Jayer, arguably the most legendary winemaker in modern Burgundy. There are hints of Jayer in the style and the wines are truly delicious.

The very long, rising finish is lightly saline and classically dry. Fourrier told me he has no plans to produce more than 30% as much négociant wine as domain wine in future years. |

Transparent and challenging but very long and persistent and deserves lots of time – yet you could enjoy it today. Really vibrates on the palate. Very lifted – deliberately so. Transparent and a very strong statement. Rather atypical. |

The palate is very refined, beautifully focused with a silver bead of acidity. There is a sorbet-like freshness from start to finish, a gentle crescendo of flavours towards the blackberry, raspberry and orange zest finish that lingers persistently in the mouth. Superb. |
