Hoffmann Jayer (previously Jayer Gilles)
Indulge in exquisite wines brought to you by the renowned Jayer Gilles, producing some of the finest Burgundy wines in France. Founded in 1966, this family-owned domain has captured the attention of wine connoisseurs around the globe for its exceptional quality and attention to detail. From vineyard to bottle, Jayer Gilles crafts elegant, balanced wines that capture the essence of Burgundy terroir.
Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer, previously known as Domaine Gilles Jayer, does have a link to the revered Jayer family. Founded in the 1950s by Robert Jayer and his wife Paulette, who originated from Vosne Romanée, this estate has been a purely familial affair. It passed to their only son, Gilles Jayer, in 1991, and boasts an impressive range of Grand Cru and 1er Cru holdings that typically make the headlines.
As with many family businesses, Gilles Jayer faced the ultimate dilemma of having no descendants to inherit the property. In 2017, he decided to sell it to André Hoffmann, a Swiss national and avid wine enthusiast, who embarked on a new dynasty for the estate and renamed it Domaine Hoffmann-Jayer.
Since acquiring the property and vineyards from the Jayer era, Hoffmann has revolutionized the winemaking process. He has abandoned Gilles Jayer's robust style in favor of a more modern and balanced approach, drastically reducing the use of oak. Hoffmann's team, led by Alexandre Vernet, has made impressive progress, with the first vintage of the new era receiving critical acclaim across the board.
