Laroque

One of the most ancient properties in Saint-Émilion, Laroque's history stretches back to the 1300s. It is one of the few proper castles in Bordeaux and the imposing tower adds a medieval edge that few others have, cutting a distinctive silhouette in the landscape. Located not far from one of the appellation’s heavy-weights and fellow Suire stablemate, Pavie-Macquin, the terroir is undeniably world class and undoubtedly it shows in the wine.

James Suckling (92)

Blackberries and dark chocolate at first. Opens up with leather, fresh wood and aniseed. Good body with pure fruit and a nice juicy acidity. Chewy with slightly firm tannins and lots of new wood that needs time to integrate. Try in 2017.
