Wine Advocate (93)One impressive 2011, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape (70% Grenache and 30% Mourvedre, aged in a combination of concrete tank, foudre and barrel) is awesomely full-bodied, rich and layered, with meaty notes of roasted herbs, melted licorice, black fruits and spice all showing on the nose. Possessing fantastic mid-palate depth and plenty of fine tannin, it will drink nicely for 10-12 years (which is saying something for a 2011!). Drink now-2023. |

Wine Advocate (90)The 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape falls short of the beautiful 2015 version, but it is still excellent. A 70-30 blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre raised in concrete, it offers aromas of dark, dried fruit and cola, layered with a hint of horse blanket. Full-bodied, chewy and tannic, this old-school offering will need a few years to soften. |

Jeb Dunnuck (95)I was able to taste two wines from the 2017 vintage, and I suspect that no Quet cuvée was produced. The 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape checks in as a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre that was brought up mostly in concrete tank, with 20% in older barrels. This powerful, ripe, incredibly sexy beauty should be snatched up by readers. Blackcurrants, black cherries, ground herbs, graphite, and licorice notes all flow to a deep, full-bodied, rockingly textured base cuvée that more than delivers the goods. Expansive, layered, and concentrated, it competes with most special cuvées out there. It's not for wimps. Drink this terrific wine over the coming decade. |

Vinous (93)Opaque ruby. Deeply pitched black and blue fruit aromas are lifted and sharpened by a spicy nuance and a hint of fresh violet. The sappy, sharply focused blackberry and boysenberry flavors show a surprisingly light touch for their power. Closes supple and sweet, with velvety tannins lending shape. This suave wine is round, seamless and extremely appealing now but it has enough depth to ensure a slow and graceful evolution in bottle. |

Vinous (92-94)(aged in concrete tanks for the Grenache and barriques for the Mourvèdre) Deep ruby. Heady, smoke-accented aromas of black and blue fruits, incense and potpourri gain vivacity from a zesty mineral flourish. Densely packed black raspberry and blueberry flavors open up and turn spicier with air. Shows a suave blend of richness and finesse, offering outstanding focus and tenacity, subtle tannic grip and no excess fat. |

Jeb Dunnuck (98)Similarly colored to the classic cuvée, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Quet is 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre. It offers a huge, rich, powerful style that never goes over the top and stays balanced and graceful. Currants, toasted spices, caramelized beef, and exotic notes all flow to a massively textured, powerhouse of a wine that has a stacked mid-palate, a bombastic personality, and a great finish. It needs two to three years of bottle age but is an incredible, heady, powerful wine. |
