Yarra Yering
Yarra Yering has been established in the Yarra Valley since 1969 and since then has distinguished itself from the rest of Australian winemaking. With an iconic range of wines, including the Dry Reds Nos. 1 & 2 alongside an ever increasing and changing cast of supporting characters, this is one of the most dynamic ranges in Australia today. The quality of Yarra Yering has continued unabated through to the present day as evidenced by James Halliday’s selection of Sarah Crowe as 'Australian Winemaker of the Year 2017’.
This winery is one of the legends of Australian winemaking and a true original in terms of style and aesthetic. Their low-fi production values with lightweight glass bottle and non-existant punt (dimple on the bottle of the bottle) buck the trend of obnoxiously weighty bottles. Their wine is similarly light in comparison, with their reds known to reach staggering lows of 12.5%, below even modern Burgundian averages. An elegant overall style and a refusal to dignify design conventions have endeared this winery to its fans around the world.
