  • Keller Westhofener Morstein Riesling GG 2011 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (91)

Lime, apple, and grapefruit with a strong influence of their skins and pips renders Keller's 2011 Westhofener Morstein Riesling Grosses Gewachs a remarkably pithy and piquant mouthful. Density and sheer persistence this also has in spades - it's almost muscle-bound - but I'll be very interested to see whether it picks up refinement, differentiation and, for want of a better word (one Keller himself favors), elegance over the course of coming decade. There is an austerely stony undertone to this entire performance; and one that didn't dissipate in a bottle that had been opened for a day. (Incidentally, this is the first vintage of Morstein to be supplemented by a portion of sixty-year-old vines that Keller recently acquired and grafted over to Riesling.)

    Vinous (95)

Intriguing aromas of nectarine, nut oil and lemon zest, plus a touch of cinnamon. The succulent apricot fruit and textural richness are kept alive by a salty minerality that lingers tantalizingly on the finish. With perfect clarity and outstanding intensity, this is a show-stopper. One of finest dry rieslings of the vintage.

  • Markus Molitor Urziger Wurzgarten Auslese 3* Goldkapsel 2018 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (99)

Molitor's 2018 Riesling Ürziger Würzgarten Auslese *** (Golden Capsule) opens with a concentrated, deep, clear and complex bouquet with crunchy stone and very fine lemon chutney aromas. Crystalline and clear on the palate, this is a playful, frisky, finessed and finely juicy, highly delicate and stimulatingly piquant and filigreed Würzgarten Auslese that represents very fine botrytis flavors and a great terroir. This is a gorgeous, weightless and pristine, persistently salty Riesling that can be aged for decades. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.

  • Markus Molitor Wehlener Klosterberg Auslese 3* Green Capsule 2018 (6x75cl)

    Wine Advocate (99)

The 2018 Riesling Wehlener Klosterberg Auslese *** (Green Capsule) is very clear and openly fruity on the concentrated and aromatic nose, with ripe and spicy stone fruit and lychee as well as spicy aromas with coolish notes of crushed gray slate and flowers. This is another 2018 that reminds me of the world's finest Gewürztraminers due to the flavors, richness, mild acidity and perfect mix of tropical fruit aromas, mineral spiciness and very fine tannins. The wine is sweet rather than medium-sweet, but its crystalline and elegant acidity and aromatic intensity make this a spectacularly great 2018 with greatly deposed power. The wine already tastes dangerously good today, but it will develop at least as gorgeous as the 2003s. This could end up as a giant one day. Tasted at the domain in September 2020.
