Wine Advocate (95+)
Much as it was from barrel, the 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques is immensely promising, mingling aromas of wild berries and cassis with hints of smoked meats, spices, rose petals and black truffles in an incipiently complex bouquet. Deep, full-bodied and multidimensional, it's layered and concentrated, with lively acids, immense concentration and a long, penetrating finish. Built to age, it will demand patience.Inc. VAT£840.49 -
Vinous (92-94)
Dark red. Restrained but pure aromas of blackberry, currant, minerals and spices, complicated by a whiff of fresh blood. Densely packed and layered, with lovely finesse and minerality for this cuvee. Finishes spicy, sweet and long, with considerable dusty tannins and a whiff of black licorice. This is balanced to offer early appeal but has the juicy concentration and backbone to age well.Inc. VAT£1,951.24 -
Vinous (90+)
Bright, full ruby. Captivating aromas of cassis, game, mocha and brown spices. Sweet, concentrated and chewy, with powerful cassis and kirsch fruit flavors. Already displays wonderful inner-mouth aromatic character. Finishes with rather strong, slightly tough tannins that will require patience. This is quite impressive, but the 2000 version appears to have sweeter tannins.Inc. VAT£974.89 -

Vinous (92-95)
Deep, saturated ruby. Flamboyantly perfumed aromas leap from the glass: dark fruits, venison, smoke, minerals, earth and spicy oak. Velvety and palate-caressing but manages to maintain great flavor definition; an uncanny amalgam of power and cut. Intensely fruity and fresh, with better acidity and length than the Charmes. Finishes with completely ripe tannins and great persistence.Inc. VAT£2,454.49 -
Vinous (92-96)
Deep, bright ruby. Knockout nose combines black fruits, minerals and sauvage animal nuances. Dense, thick and lush, with very suave black fruit and bitter chocolate flavors. Really sappy and chewy thanks to firm framing acidity. The tannins are fine but substantial and the finishing flavors mount slowly and inexorably. Not an easy style, but a wine with great reserves of flavor.Inc. VAT£2,454.49 -
Vinous (93-95)
Good medium ruby. Distinctly wilder aromas of small black fruits, roasted meat, coffee, leather and smoke; conveys a strong impression of soil. Like liquid silk in the mouth, with pure, precise flavors of blackberry, blueberry and game. Wonderfully layered and concentrated, and currently hiding its tightly coiled spring. Finishes with great length and hints of violet and caramel. A connoisseur's wine.Inc. VAT£2,909.29 -
Vinous (95-97)
Rose petals, violets, anise and sweet red cherries lift from the glass in Dugat-Py's 2012 Mazis-Chambertin. The contours are refined, silky and polished throughout. This is a fabulous showing from a wine that is vibrant, crystalline and utterly breathtaking. Although the Mazis is quite floral and intensely aromatic, it also has plenty of depth and mid-palate pliancy.Inc. VAT£1,034.00 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2019 Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru, blended with 70% whole bunch and 50% new oak, was pretty reduced on the nose when I tasted it from barrel. So, bypassing the aromatics, the palate is medium-bodied with chunky, forthright tannins. This is much more masculine than the Charmes-Chambertin, touches of melted tar and tobacco appearing toward the finish, which feels a little conservative by comparison. Hopefully it will develop more charm by the time it is bottled.Inc. VAT£1,601.21 -
Vinous (92+)
(purchased fruit from vines on the Puligny side of the cru near the Chassagne border): Wet stone and menthol dominate the nose. Chewy and vinous but tighter at present and less harmonious than the Grandes Ruchottes. In a powerful style but not thick or heavy. The echoing finish is salty and dry. This will need time in bottle.Inc. VAT£2,023.20 -
Vinous (96)
A wine of pure texture the 2011 Chevalier-Montrachet captivates all the senses. Mint, lime, white flowers and Chamomile all vow for attention in a pliant, expressive wine of the highest level. The 2011 has a level of inner richness that is simply waiting in reserve. Another few years in bottle should unlock all of that potential.Inc. VAT£2,310.74 -

Saturated medium ruby. Penetrating, superripe, slightly porty aromas of medicinal black cherry, cocoa powder, menthol and damp earth. Generous, pliant and really stuffed with fruit; very solid wine with lovely restrained sweetness. Powerful flavor of black plum outlasts the big chewy-but-ripe tannins. This will get sweeter as the tannins melt. But the '99 may be even more impressive.Inc. VAT£1,626.00 -

Bright, pale, green-tinged yellow. Ripe aromas of mirabelle and nectarine, with an element of exotic spices. Fat, ripe and sweet, with an almost glyceral texture to the nectarine and pink grapefruit flavors. A fat, spicy wine with lowish acidity. This hail-affected parcel was picked at the beginning of the harvest owing to the more fragile grape skins, noted Bernard Billaud.
