Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-93)
Picked 19th September, with enough fruit for two tanks: one was destemmed and the other not at all. Fresh light purple, one never expects a great depth of colour from the Clos des Poutures. This is very attractive and with a bit more flesh round the edges than sometimes, enough acidity, some tannins from the terroir and the vinification, but overall making an attractive ensemble here with some length.Inc. VAT£560.44 -
Wine Advocate (88-90)
Produced from purchased fruit and vinified with one-third whole clusters, the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes (négoce) bursts with aromas of raspberries, berries, woodsmoke and sweet soil tones. It's medium to full-bodied, succulent and fine-boned, with a delicate core of fruit framed by powdery tannins.Inc. VAT£577.24 -
Tim Atkin MW (93)
Not currently available.Inc. VAT£366.04 -
Jancis Robinson (16.5)
Deepish cherry red. Smells riper and richer than the Bourgogne and with intense and seductive red fruit, subtly floral and so open. Not especially long but delicious in its fragrant and open Chambolle character.Inc. VAT£646.84 -
Burghound (89-91)
(from 11 different parcels in 7 different lieux-dits). A more elegant and slightly fresher nose is composed by aromas of black cherry, raspberry and pretty violet nuances. There is a really lovely texture to the delicious, saline-inflected and sneaky long finish that is very well-balanced. A quality Chambolle villages. (89-91)/2025+Inc. VAT£1,309.24 -
Vinous (90-92)
The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Village has a vivid bouquet with red cherries, cranberry and violet scents, actually, quite Vosne-like in personality. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, quite poised and tense with a dash of spice on the finish. This is a delicious Chambolle that should give 12-15 years' drinking pleasure.Inc. VAT£925.24 -
Vinous (95)
The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru has a slightly meaty/feral bouquet, just a hint of gaminess that might become more conspicuous with bottle age. Otherwise I find this well defined and with flattering red cherry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. There is a fine bead of acidity here, a pleasant fleshy mouthfeel towards the finish and a residual salinity that beckons you back for the next sip. This represents another impressive wine from Charles Van Canneyt. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.Inc. VAT£1,459.24 -
Wine Advocate (93-95)
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots is showing brilliantly this year, wafting from the glass with a deep-pitched bouquet of cassis, blackberries, spices and dark chocolate. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich and enveloping, its textural attack segueing into a deep and layered core, concluding with a long and penetrating finish.Inc. VAT£2,113.24 -

Vinous (87-89)
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d’Orveau, wiped out last year after frost, has a straitlaced, rather reserved bouquet, touches of sous-bois and tobacco tincturing the red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a little foursquare and perhaps, relative to Grivot’s other 2017s, just missing a little energy on the finish.Inc. VAT£786.04 -
Vinous (92-94)
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Rouges 1er Cru has "grown up a lot over the last 10 years," according to Etienne Grivot. It is one of the more reticent cuvées on the nose this year, reluctantly unfolding to reveal more tertiary red berry fruit laced with garrigue and iodine. Good complexity, but these aromatics will need time to open. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, lithe tannins. Quite compact at the moment, this has good grip and a saline, marine-influenced finish that fans out beautifully. A succinct, understated Les Rouge that will give 20-plus years of pleasure.Inc. VAT£871.24 -
Decanter (95)
Always one of my favourite Vosne premiers crus from Mathilde and Etienne Grivot, this textured, stylish, deftly oaked red has all the most appealing features of the 2017 vintage, with lots of sumptuous, summer-pudding fruit, filigree tannins and a foundation of acidity. It's deceptively forward, as this has the minerality and focus to age.Inc. VAT£1,681.24 -
Vinous (89-91)
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village has a very pretty nose with brambly red fruit briary and light sous-bois aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with tart red fruit, fine backbone, quite tannic with a touch of white pepper on the finish. A lovely Vosne-Romanée.Inc. VAT£600.29 -
Jancis Robinson (17)
Bottled. Pale shaded crimson. Intense floral perfume. Pure Chambolle with real excitement and detail. Pretty early maturing though.Inc. VAT£1,105.49 -
Jancis Robinson (17.5)
Bottled. Especially pale rim. Very floral and hedonistic. Sweet start and surely just what burgundy lovers currently seek. Really rather gorgeous fruit and precision with just a little dry finish so probably worth waiting a while. Very long.Inc. VAT£1,553.09 -
Vinous (93)
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru has an open nose of brambly red fruit, sous-bois and wilted rose petals, very pure and charming, and not dissimilar in style to François Bertheau's Chambolle 1er Cru. The palate is very harmonious, open and transparent. It feels lighter than others, yet the tension and precision will see this age with style, and perhaps it will not close down. Tempting now, but I would prefer to wait. Classy. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.Inc. VAT£646.84 -
Decanter (95)
This is a classic 'cuvée ronde', combining fruit from six different Premiers Crus to produce a stylish example of what Véronique Drouhin calls the 'cashmere of Burgundy'. Scented, balanced and ethereal, it's a transparent expression of Chambolle's range of terroirs, with sweet summer berry flavours and fine, velvety tannins. Accomplished stuff.Inc. VAT£925.24 -
Tim Atkin MW (94)
Most of this fruit comes from domaine-owned parcels, but some is purchased. Six parcels in total contribute to this pretty, floral and silky-textured Chambolle. Sweet red fruits spread gently across the mid-weight palate before a light ganache note joins in and brings the wine into a gently fading finish. 2022-34Inc. VAT£799.24 -
Burghound (93)
A ripe if highly restrained mix of red and blue fruit is liberally sprinkled with spice and floral notes. There is good volume and solid mid-palate density to the seductively delicious big-bodied flavors that are shaped by a phenolically mature tannic spine, all wrapped in a mildly rustic but highly persistent mineral-inflected finish. Note well that this muscular and robust effort is definitely going to need at least 7 to 8 years of keeping and require 15+, perhaps even slightly more.Inc. VAT£1,041.64 -
Jancis Robinson (17)
Cask sample. Gorgeously intense purple fruit on the nose. Sweet ripe cherries. More damson on the palate, very ripe, just fresh enough, almost a little jammy but rich and generous.Inc. VAT£786.04 -
Jancis Robinson (17)
Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Stunning red-fruited perfume here. Floral and fruity in the extreme. Fine and finely chewy tannins, scented on the palate, with the dry character that it is hard to get in combination with this scentedness outside of the Côte d’Or. Pure, pretty but with depth as well. Long and moreish with the freshness to balance.Inc. VAT£430.84 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (91-94)
5*s Glowing purple with a beautifully lively heady intense but balanced hits the front of the palate full on and continues very well, all red fruit with a good cut of acidity, a touch of wood tannin. Promising stuff.Inc. VAT£463.24 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-95)
Raised in 30% new wood and 70% 1 year old. Solid purple with medium depth. The nose starts on the oak and soon moves to the fruit. Very succulent again, smoothly balanced with a firm grip to the tannins. Yet it is suavely put together. High class, and it certainly has the length. Tasted: October 2019Inc. VAT£499.24 -
Wine Advocate (86-88)
The 2015 Pommard Les Perrières has quite a rich bouquet with touches of fig infusing the kirsch and cassis aromas. The palate is sweet on the entry with bold tannin, moderate complexity with a firm, slightly confit-like finish that needs to muster a little more precision. Not bad, although maybe just picked a day or two too late? Let's see.Inc. VAT£335.09 -
Jancis Robinson (17)
Star anise, red plum and red cherry on this complex and bright nose. Silky smooth but plentiful tannins frame an expansive core of floral red fruits on the palate. Quite marked smoky, chocolatey oak at this stage but such is the power of fruit that it should knit together well with time.Inc. VAT£803.09 -
Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (92-96)
A crisp bright purple colour. This has a gorgeous purity and precision, a ravishing lifted red fruit intensity, good acidity and well ripened tannins. Very elegant yet intense Chambolle, with a beautiful finish. Tasted: November 2021Inc. VAT£720.29 -
Famous throughout the world for its Grand Crus, Vosne-Romanée also has some extremely good Premier Crus. The vineyard of Les Petits Monts is situated at the top of the hill and takes its name from its location. The iron-based soils just south of Nuits Saint Georges are a perfect home for Pinot Noir vines and help the grapes reach peak maturity. Louis Latour’s traditional winemaking allow the lively perfumes and great fruit characters come to the fore. Wines from Les Petits Monts need age to reveal their full potentialInc. VAT£739.49

Burghound (90-93)
Moderate wood stops short of fighting with the very spicy aromas of cassis and dark berry fruit coulis. The velvety and palate soaking middle weight plus flavors possess a seductive texture while offering more volume and power if less minerality on the ever-so-mildly warm but lengthy finale that is similarly structured. Outstanding. Drink: 2032+Inc. VAT£765.89 -
Burghound (91-94)
A notably fresher nose offers up notes of various red berries along with a plentitude of floral nuances. There is also better energy on the palate of the medium-bodied flavors that exude evident minerality on the saline and lingering if again mildly rustic finish. With that said, this is much better-balanced.Inc. VAT£1,197.64
