Tim Atkin MW (94)Showing blackberries and plums with underbrush and strong minerality, this is a Corton with a lot of personality. The tannins are nicely textured while the acidity seems to melt into the soft fruit core. Latour receives the "toleration" of keeping "Ch teau" in front of the appellation name. INAO has been cracking down elsewhere on all sorts of matters seemingly simple like this, but I do hope Latour gets to keep this name given its heritage at the property as it was the great-grandfather of Fabrice Latour who purchased the vines after the phylloxera crisis. 2023-32 |

Vinous (90)The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has an exotic bouquet with hints of prune filtering through the red cherry and cassis notes. Very opulent. The palate is rounded and caressing, plush and quite decadent. The 40-50% new oak is nicely integrated, though I would like to see more precision on the finish. |

Vinous (89)The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village has a lively bouquet with dark cherry fruit, hints of fig and damson, though I would never describe it as over-ripe. There might be just touch of brettanomyces here. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, quite rounded and voluminous in the mouth with a soft landing on the finish. Packed full of flavour, this will be easy to drink in its youth. |

Vinous (93-95)The 2020 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, the only cuvée that was not bottled when I tasted it, has a well-defined bouquet with crushed rock filtering through the citrus fruit, kernals of orange rind and litchi. The palate is well balanced with an aniseed tinged entry, good depth and vibrancy with a dash of spice, stem ginger, on the finish. Excellent. |
