The Premier Cru vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges are divided into sections.
Damodes is positioned on the north side of the village immediately above Boudots (which sits adjacent to possibly Burgundies greatest premier Cru Vosne-Romanée Malconsorts) and on the border with Vosne-Romanée
The vineyard is on the upper slope with well-draining soil. The wines, whilst clearly made in the style of Nuits-Saint-Georges, show an influence from Vosne-Romanée next door. Notable floral notes and black fruit flavours.

There is good volume to the nicely refined middle weight flavors that are at once succulent yet powerful, all wrapped in a lingering and balanced finale. This will need to depth with time in bottle but the underlying material appears to be present for that to occur. |

Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy (93-95)5 Stars. Bright red crimson colour with very juicy red berry fruit on the nose, this has abundant energy and makes one salivate. There is its habitual garrigue touch at the back then a second helping of sweet raspberry fruit, Impeccable structure, a really interesting complex and refreshing wine. Gourmand in the best sense. The fruit just keeps coming back behind. A stunning result from a lesser known 1er Cru. Drink from 2028-2036. |

Vinous (91-93)The 2018 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Lavières comes across a bit moody and sullen from barrel, especially after the livelier Les Charmois. Raspberry and wild strawberry scents eventually emerge, albeit reluctantly. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Very poised and quite mineral-driven, this conveys fine energy and a satisfying sense of strictness toward the black-pepper-tinged finish. Excellent. |

The palate is medium-bodied with a mixture of red and black fruit, and refreshingly saline in the mouth, particularly on the oyster-shell-tinged finish. Plenty of energy here, even if it’s not the best Grivot Nuits Saint-Georges this vintage. |

Fuller bodied than the Vosne-Romanée, perhaps a little less finesse, so both are true to their appellations. Well managed tannins to finish, and persistent. Drink from 2025-2031. |

Vinous (92-94)Matured in around 40% new oak, the 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe Vieilles Vignes has a very controlled, focused bouquet of raspberry and bilberry fruit, beautifully defined and very terroir-expressive. The palate is well balanced and stylistically equidistant between Nuits Saint-Georges and Vosne-Romanée, betraying its geographical location. The 85-year-old vines impart great concentration but also immense quality, more Premier Cru than Village Cru. Superb. |

Winery note:
The Premier Cru vineyards of Nuits-Saint-Georges are divided into sections.
Damodes is positioned on the north side of the village immediately above Boudots (which sits adjacent to possibly Burgundies greatest premier Cru Vosne-Romanée Malconsorts) and on the border with Vosne-Romanée
The vineyard is on the upper slope with well-draining soil. The wines, whilst clearly made in the style of Nuits-Saint-Georges, show an influence from Vosne-Romanée next door. Notable floral notes and black fruit flavours.
