Vinous (93+)
Healthy dark red. Sexy, soil-driven nose melds raspberry, spices, herbs and smoky minerals. Plush, fine-grained and sweet yet somehow light on its feet; like the 2016 version, this has a very high pH around 3.9 but its savory minerality and stem element give it sufficient energy and lift. A wonderfully seamless ripe-but-dry wine with a very long, rising finish featuring refined tannins and lingering black cherry and licorice notes.Inc. VAT£8,173.24 -
Vinous (90-92)
(70% vendange entier; 15% new oak; tasted from tank): Healthy dark red. Enticing aromas of raspberry, spices, bitter chocolate and licorice. Wonderfully dense but juicy too, with its black fruit and mint flavors lifted by a floral element. Voluminous, classy, perfumed and very long, with the tannins barely noticeable today. A superb village wine.Inc. VAT£2,119.24 -
Exemplifying the epitome of fine French winemaking, Bertagna Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaumonts 2015 is a glorious Burgundian Pinot Noir born in the esteemed vineyards of Vosne-Romanée. Bertagna’s 350-year-old winemaking legacy is eloquently portrayed in this remarkable vintage. After meticulous selection, the grapes were gently extracted and aged in oak barrels for 16-18 months, displaying the genius of winemaker Eva Reh. The polished tannins, and the elegant amalgamation of wild fruits, fragrant spices, and an exquisite mineral undertone, provide a sumptuous, rich palate. This wine carries a wonderful ageing potential. Bertagna Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Beaumonts 2015 is more than just a wine – it’s a deeply layered sensory experience that any fine wine connoisseur will savour. Tailored to those who appreciate the nuances of spectacular reds, this wine is a well-thought blend of tradition, innovation, and the blessings of the verdant Burgundy terroir.

Vinous (96)
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru seems to have been born to embarrass my rather tepid reaction to this wine from barrel. Wow! This has me smitten. It offers a very floral, seductive bouquet with pressed violet petals liberally scattered over the black cherry and wild strawberry fruit, and just a hint of vanilla in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. This is very cohesive, harmonious and silky-smooth in texture, with a light touch of blood orange and brown spices that impart complexity on the finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.Inc. VAT£793.24 -
Vinous - Antonio Galloni (98)
The 2015 Ducru-Beaucaillou is phenomenally great. Inky, powerful and explosive, the 2015 pulses with energy in all of its dimensions. Creme de cassis, blackberry jam, graphite, smoke, leather and incense, along with the wine's muscular tannins, convey an impression of brooding intensity. The 2015 has been nothing short of sensational on the two occasions I have tasted it so far. Readers should be prepared to be patient. Don't miss it!Inc. VAT£1,507.24 -
Wine Advocate (85)
The 2015 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru les Suchots offers up aromas of plums, cassis and spice, followed by a medium-bodied, rather inscrutable palate without any real discernible concentration or depth. Perhaps the wine is simply closed down after bottling and will emerge from its shell with age?Inc. VAT£1,399.24 -
Decanter (94)
Very fine florality and purity on first impression – less of the meatiness of past vintages. The classic Gruaud-Larose smoothness is there along with added precision. Great attention to detail; a very fine claret.Inc. VAT£698.87 -

I absolutely loved the 2015 Léoville-Barton and this has everything you could want from a Left Bank Bordeaux. Cassis, smoked earth, graphite, tobacco leaf, and thrilling amounts of minerality all emerge from this inky colored, full-bodied, power-packed, brut of a Saint-Julien that holds everything together and stays pure, balanced and elegant on the palate. It has a lot of tannins, yet more than enough fruit. The 2015 is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, brought up in 60% new French oak, and it needs 7-8 years of bottle age and will shine for 2-3 decades. Bravo!Inc. VAT£589.24 -

Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Rich array of aromas on the nose. Ambitious with lots of stuff covering a pretty massive charge of tannins. Just slightly inky. Exciting finish. Very persistent. Classic build with lots of ambition. Everyone thought this was Montrose! VGVInc. VAT£223.24
